Title: Boost problem, help! :(
Post by: trevtubby on October 12, 2007, 06:40:39 PM
hey guys,

Got a weird problem, my car has recently decided it only wants to boost .38 bar, instead of the usual .9 bar.

Seems to be driving ok, and the second turbo kicks in and everything, it just isnt giving me the boost?

Any idea what could be wrong?

Ive got a greddy profect b spec controller.

oh and i dunno if this means anything, but my battery died the other day..went completely and utterly flat. Would that affect anyting on my PFC or my boost controller? i tried turnin the controller up but it didnt increase the boost at all? just stayed at .38 max.

May have gone into limp mode...donno if it happens on PFC but try disconnecting the battery for a few mins pressing the brakes a few times and try and see if it sorts it :)

sounds like a leek, turn your boost controler back down and check all your pipes and hoses.

check all the pipes and hoses, my god...that could take about 3 weeks on one of these things :rollin

is there any usual suspects which are prone to splitting?

Are you running standard boost or have you turned it up?

Check the corrigated pipes to and from the intercooler mate... mine actualy split in one of the groves.... so you will have to take them off, bend twist & flex them to see any splits!!

It\'s got to ba a pressure pipe as the wastgate spring is 0.5 bar, so unless your turbos are gone then the minimum pressure you should see is about 0.53 bar!!!

Mine had a similar prob, turned out that the turbo control system was not working correctly as the boost was too high for the solenoids to opperate correctly. I fitted a pressure regulator and fixed it ( i\'ve developed other probs since but it fixed this prob for me!) See here:Clicky (http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=480079)
Stick with it and read the whole thread and it makes sense.

throw away item I\'m afraid mate!!! I made one out of some stainless pipe I had knocking about!!
But what you want to get is a hard-pipe kit.... this will eliminate this problem again in the future!!
