Finally got round to sorting out the dreaded creak on my fd. Has been going on for a while now and not had a chance to do anything about it, suspected the solid unobtanium rear bushes needed greasing so took the suspension apart and did that.
While I was at it I replaced the pillowballs on a spare set of arms, just inspected mine and they weren\'t too bad, most were quite solid and don\'t turn easily, renewed the seals on the rear brake pistons too and changed various rubber boots - good thing I did as one of them was seized and needed a good clean  :Thumbsup! Braided hoses waiting to go on at some point :2Rolleyes
Not had a chance to test it out but definately sounds better once on the floor with plenty of pushing on the boot - no noise where as before just letting it down off the jack it would\'ve been creaking left right and centre :D Proper test will be once driven of course, need to get camber and toe reset on the rear, looking forward to driving it now :D Diff bushes are next :Thumbs-up
Hardest bit (other than replacing the pillowballs) was getting the poxy lower arm to mate with the hub, seemed to be a much tighter fit than the others but got the hang of it now ;) Definately worth doing if your bushes or pillowballs are on the way out, got me plenty of spare arms and bushes now lol :wiggle
can you please do mine :o
Sorry pal, will only take responsibility for my own car. If the wheels fall off it\'s my fault alone; instead I\'ll offer you moral support and words of wisdom if you have a crack at it yourself :D
thanks mate. that will suffice :D
dont have a press or the balls to enter into this on the drive so unfortunately i will be paying a garage or calling some friends when the time comes.
Mr garbutt where are ya! lol
Yes, I\'m lucky I\'ve got a garage to keep the car in and a daily drive! Well worth doing imho.
argh, Mr Memski. just what i was looking for. if i may, how did you get the lower arm in as i\'m having some trouble myself.
cheers adie
I guess you mean where the pillowball meets the hub? It\'s a very tight fit, you need to make sure the pillowball is lined up properly so both faces are square to the hubs. Use a screwdriver to move the pb around and rest it against the hub then gently tap the lower arm (wooden block against it so you don\'t damage it) until the pb sits in place. This can take absolutely ages, doing it over and over until you get it in the right place, or you could fluke it like I did on one side and get it in one go. Very frustrating if you have to keep repeating this process, just stick at it!
Tharek you can do these with some threaded bar and washers, you dont need a press. Just a nice comfy cushion to rest ya knees on and dry weather. Im gonna be doing mine soon. just need to get them off malloy first.

my god! finally done. what a bitch of a job. i don\'t think i helped my self though, as i did it all in my garrage because of the weather and lets just say, theirs not enough room (or you coukd say, what a fduking stupid idea doing it in the garrage you knew it wasn\'t going to be easy) ar well, thanks for the support guys.
But isn\'t it a great feeling when it finally sits right?:D
I used a G-clamp to press the bushes in, worked a treat
