Title: First Time engine rebuild
Post by: Sidzrx on October 09, 2007, 12:04:26 AM
I\'m preparing to rebuild my engine for the first time, and was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice as to what problems I might expect?
Ive heard the dowel pins can be awkward to remove, do I need a special tool?
Also do I need a special king of engine stand? If so where can I get one? Or where can I get an adaptor for an engine stand?

Having gone through the same thing my advice would be to buy one of the boxed sets of rebuild DVD\'s.

I know Rotaryart sell them [banner at top] don\'t know if any of the other vendors do.

Good approach with easy to follow step by step footage.

Doeasn\'t cover the ancilliaries though so take lots of pics.

good luck

John

An engine stand is highly recommended imo. Dowl pins come out using one of the bolts from the front cover. The main problem for a first timer is seperating the engine and gearbox.
