Hi all,
I am just finalizing my project, and have a ShineAuto fibreglass bonnet which is painted. Before I walk away from the bodyshop, we were discussing the potential problem of engine heat on the paintwork. He was considering putting the original bonnet shielding on the aftermarket bonnet, but I said I\'d check around with others that have a fibreglass bonnet and see if it\'s an issue.
Given the cost of the paintwork, I don\'t want problems in the future.
This is the Mazdaspeed copycat unit which has the vents across the top half, so I would assume heat will vent pretty well.
Cheers for any advice.
Craig
Mine gets very hot, but there are ways of reducing the heat in the engine bay
Are you on twins or single?
Single. Have yet to run in yet, so I\'ve got no idea of the heat levels.
So long as the bodyshop have baked it several times before putting paint on there shouldn\'t be a problem. My bodyshop said they baked it three times before they were happy that all the air bubbles had come out of the fibreglass. Since then I have had no heat problems with the paintwork and it has got very very hot with the stock intercooler - like on the tunnel run earlier in the year.
Whole front end of my baby is FRP, and never had an issue even after a complicated Kandy respray.

I am planning on refurbing & powder coating my spare Buddy Clubs, get rid of curbing, lacquer breakdown, etc. Was planning on black with a red pinstripe around the rims. Once done, they\'ll be up for sale again on MRC.
