Title: Greddy Air Filter
Post by: Steve Burnett on February 12, 2004, 02:43:02 PM
Just wondering if I can get some help..........

I have bought a Greddy air filter, one of those large single filter types (Like the RE:AM... one). Im wondering about a couple of things,
First: I know that most filters will not be as good as the standard air box as there is no direct air feed, so I am wanting to get an aluminium air box fabricated. Has anyone done this? (Robbie Calder has something like this I think) Can anyone give me pointers on this like places to mount it to hold it secure.

Secondly: Is there any benefit/negative of having a large single air filter as apposed to the 2 like with Blitz/Apexi ? Does anyone currently have this type of air filter in their car?

Thanks for any help given
Steve :D

I have a large single filter, but thought that a filter for each turbo would only be sucking air when the turbo is working?  Could be really wrong there but if not, that means a bigger filter sucking air for each turbo when it is operating?  Seems like a benefit to me.

Any ideas how to get a direct cold air feed plumbed up?  All I can think of is a scoop collecting air and feeding by using piping to the filter or creating a hole in the front bumber area for the air to be directed.

Robbie is only using the stock airbox since it already has a cold air feed.
You could always leave the cross over from the intercooler intake to the standard airbox in after fitting. Then you will still get a bit of cold air when the car is moving.
I will eventually get round to fitting an induction kit, and I would at least fit a heat shield.

ps

Can I have your old airbox ?

Im going to try and use the existing air feed in some way. I\'ll have to measure it all up once the filter is in to see how good a fit I can get. Aluminium box should be a good enough heat shield.
