Title: Anyone had RAC insurance
Post by: AussieRXFan on October 03, 2007, 12:17:42 PM
Hey guys, I\'m a frustrated Aussie trying to get insurance for a 3rd gen RX7. Main problem is that as I havent been in the country more than 3 years, not many companies will touch me and the ones that do are ridiculously expensive. RAC is coming out cheap but wont do modifications.
So has anyone used RAC or made a claim through RAC. What were they like?
Cheers
Steve

Try A plan. Take a look in the insurance section of this forum. Loads of company\'s to choose from. By the way..why are you living over here? Loads of brits would love to live in nz or oz!

Been doing the rounds calling almost every uk insurance company i can think of. Have looked on this site for tips but the non UK licence together with not being here for 3 years and mods kills me. Best quote so far is Footman James, for a stock RX @ 1200squids, d\'oh
Over here for work and travel and want an RX7 as back in Oz they sell for between $25-50k(aussie), therefore harder to afford due to strict import laws. So if i get one, will probably import back home to make a tidy profit when i finally leave.
Cheers for the tips though.
Also checked insurance for an WRX and cheapest is 2500 for stock standard. Might have to get something silly like an MX5.

It\'s most likely the non-UK license that\'s killing you in this case. I\'ve had similar problems in the past, and that was with a German license (which is supposed to be a direct equivalent to a UK license and 100% exchangeable).
