Ok so im 500km into running my engine and clutch in, travelling down a duel carridgeway and my clutch pedel decideds it want to be down on the floor at all time now.
I think the hose from the clutch cylinder has burst as it\'s leaking out of the top and bottom. So i\'ve just had to basically push the car back to my work, which was half a mile away.
I dont think this car likes me.
.................and im knackered.
good work out though!
no, hope you get it sorted
That happened to me mate, if you cant find the clutch hose get a braided brake hose for a FD and its a straight fit dude :Giggle
Im knackered but still ****ed off, I keep thinking about the sledge hammer in the basement here at work, but then I think how much it\'s cost me and I restrain myself.
I\'ll keep the braided brake line in mind if I cant get any sense from mazda.
i would just order a braided hose from one of the tuners, they will probably have it in stock and it will prevent any future issues if you have an uprated clutch
lol same thing happened to me mate, but in a three mile queue of traffic and everyone that went past believed that i was the cause, so much much abuse thrown my way!
Anyway you didnt even have to push it, you can still drive off with no clutch pedal. all you gotta do is start it in first gear and then chug off and when it starts going let go of the key lol.
if you match the revs to the speed of the gearbox you can even change gear just like they used to in the olden days before syncromeshes.
I dont think by the look on my face that many people wanted to abuse me. I had a line of traffic behind me as I was pushing it, including a truck and no one even over took me. :)
yeh - but the people that i was holding up had just left a doncaster rovers footy match and rovers had bloody lost.
anyway try that tip when it gets quiet on the road later, cos you have to knock it out of gear to stop. you wont have to leave your car at work then if you dont want to
mine went in traffic to, little embarassing not to mention a mission. pushing it from the outside lane, to inside with no one wanting to let me in, i mean for **** sake, i was pushing the car not trying to lane hop. but luckly i only had to push it 100metres into a garden center car park.
To be honest i think it\'s the tesco near me which is evil. I mean the last time I was in the tesco petrol station the car overheated from a blown water seal, now the first time I drive past it since the rebuild the clutch goes.
Think i\'ll be taking a different route from now on.
On a lighter note a mate of mine towed me to his garage and has ordered the clutch hose which will be here tomorrow, so hopefully i\'ll be back on the road tomorrow night.
Any tips for installing the pipe? Bleeding clutch fluid etc?

Tips, well there is one i was told when quite young that i have always stuck to and that is
1. dont drink the fluid!!!!?
Really??.......... Damn!............ Not even if you dilute it?
I know it might be tempting to share bodily fluids whith your beloved (car) but its not worth it, think of all the nastys you could catch!? or worse give her!
I think there is a section in the workshop manual to do this, but generaly just take your time :yes
It\'s easy to bleed the clutch. The system shares the same resevoir as the brakes. You should also bleed the brakes to keep the braking system reliable. This is some good info on why it\'s important to renew brake fluid http://www.babcox.com/editorial/bf/bf40142.htm
Just a phone call from my mate, not only has the hose gone but I also need a new slave cylinder..... Fantastic.
Are these prone to going quite easily? Should it have been something pip should have picked up on when he rebuilt my engine and put a new clutch in for me 3 weeks ago?
No, it\'s not something pip should pick up, although he could have advised to get it rebuilt. You can\'t really tell when the sc is about to let go. A new one from mazda is about £70 inc vat. They dont normally stock these though, so prepare to wait a day or 2 for the parts to come from the warehouse near london. It\'s just not worth buying second hand. You could prob get a rebuild kit instead of buying new.
Luckily I think one is being dispatched from mazda and should be here tomorrow. Hopefully should have it boxed off tomorrow with any luck, but probably not the way the weeks going.
This has made me think about doing mine as I\'ve got a slow leak. Does the cylinder need to be bench bled? Or do you just connect it all up dry, fill up the reservoir and pump it through?
fit, connect pipework, bleed

My advice would be get it done asap. The last thing you want is to be stuck at the side of a duel carridge way with 10 million trucks flying past you, a wife on the passenger seat complaining, your mum ringing you up asking were you are as she\'s baby sitting your 10 week old baby and your already an hour late back to work...... Not that it happened to me like that..... :Thumbs-up
