Title: Reworx here I come
Post by: clandestine on September 27, 2007, 10:49:58 PM
driving home from work on the A3M doing about 50mph...cruising along and enjoying the ride - although the car is screaming for me to go faster.  The roadworks ends and I smile slightly as I put the pedal to the metal and look into the rearview mirror to see who I\'m about to leave behind.

...the problem is the car is still there and I\'m not going any faster...I change to a lower gear and nothing really discernable happens...my smile slowly turns to a frown as turn my stereo down so I can actually listen to the car talk to me.

...It wasn\'t a pretty sound...she was grumbling at me...I managed to make it to Morrisons carpark and phoned the AA up...three trucks later they finally manage to get the car onto the trailer using lots of wooden beams.  That\'s when the hydraulics of the truck burst and went all over the carpark.

In the end I had to leave my lady on the trailer and say goodbye.  Reworx don\'t know it yet but I\'m having her dropped off tomorrow morning.  Not sure what the problem is but I\'m hoping they can make the big man go away!

What a sad way to end the day!

feel for ya fells lets just hope its some thing very small.  Have you checked if the intercooler pipes are still in their place as the hoses can come off under load sometimes?

m8 - I haven\'t...to be honest I don\'t even know what the intercooler pipes are or even look like...however I do understand that your possibility is a whole lot simpler than anything that I\'ve been thinking so far...

...maybe I can go to sleep and dream about that instead!

Could be something as simple as a boost hose come off. You should learn a few of the basics of the car, because then you may be able to trouble shoot some more simple problems.

For instance, but boost hose popped off at the weekend, but I know imediately as I heard the pop, followed by next to no acceleration and the boost gauge did go above zero. So, pulled over, fixed back on, and off I went.

exactly the same happened on my mates 200sx the other day. You just get to learn what some sounds, ie:a boost hose popping off, sound like ! lol

lol - I will let you know what\'s wrong when reworx get in touch but you are definitely right, I really should learn a few of the basics...especially as I have downloaded some of the guides on the forum!

Yep....it\'s amusing driving an FD with no boost....it doesn\'t go anywhere fast really :) If you have a boost gauge it\'s obvious when this has happened as you won\'t be seeing any boost.

I think that is what Geoff said at Reworx...it sounds a big job and he will phone me back once he has a better idea of it...its going to be in for about three weeks anyway...which is probably a good thing as it will give me time to raise the cash!

Good they\'ve have managed to squeeze you in atleast..
I noticed you say , they didn\'t even know you had sent it there on the back of a truck LOL!
Well, they\'re pretty good there anyway, so like you say, you\'ll be back on the road in no time!
