Title: Removal/Disconnection of FD Centre Speaker
Post by: danrx7 on September 27, 2007, 10:53:55 AM
Does anyone know if it is possible to disconnect the centre dash speaker in the FD without removing the entire dashboard?

Mines crackling and distorting all the time now and I can no longer dial it out on the headunit so its time to take it out of the equation methinks.

Im not looking to replace it, just to silence it..

Cheers,
Dan.

Hi Dan,

Yes you can.  Use a flat head screwdriver to lift off the centre speaker cover(its just clipped in).  Then unscrew the speaker and lift out.  Unclip the cable and then put the cover back on.  Job done.

Okay the speakers out, I found the best technique to lift the grill is to gently lever it with a flat blade screwdriver (protected with masking tape) from the front edge as you look at it. This should prevent any damage to the grill, clips and dash.

So problem solved, sounds miles better now, thanks again Martin.
