I have a pair of door panels. Just the panels none of the plastic bits though, are they any help? Tim at RX Motors usually has the plastic bits laying around could be worth giving him a call.

Welcome by the way, nice motor too

Hi dave nice to see youve put some pics of you car up.
Saw you at WGT, and that is a nice colour looks nice in the flesh.

Youve come to the right place to find your parts, I think the door handle thing is quite common, I am sure mine was broke at some point.
Like everyone says years of trouble free motoring once you got a new build. not had to go through that yet but its always at the back of my mind.

Heres that site with the mad paint stuff I was mentioning:) http://alsacorp.com/products/retroglow/retro_show.htm

cant wait to get it done.

Cheers

if u don\'t mine me asking.. how much was the insurance, and who off?? u were lucky to get insured - i\'ve been getting quotes, and a lot say i\'ve got to be 25+ first!!

the apex seal... was it due? ie: near rebuild mileage? or did something go wrong with it?

Cheers & welcome.  i\'m new to the club as well.   can\'t wait to own the FD, was toying with the concept of getting a Celica GT4 ST205, but gonna go for the FD i think :3gears-lh

D2BBA it is the Fast and Modified Rx7 they gave away man :P lol

Seats in it just now are Rage buckets red and black, but their to big for the car so i would like standard seats back in to re trim in leather.

Insurance is on my mums name as me named driver and yes its a couple of grand :S but its worth it when the my baby turns every head on the streets lol.

Not sure what cause it to go its a pretty new engine from mazda or so I was told :S im thinking maybe over boost (I dont have boost gauge yet), or my upgraded ECU i was told was only gd for cars in japan running on High octane petrol and not the best choice of ECU for over here :S Pips gonna strip it and get back to me on the details.

Aha, thought it might have been!

I was up in Edinburgh with the club a couple of years ago when they gave it away.  I sent enough texts to try and win, but obviously no luck!  Shame as two RX\'s would have looked cracking on the drive!

Hey craig 500bhp? nice man what was it in getting done?

Not in the slightest mate...Iv been driving FD\'s for near on 5 years now and im 22 but i had experience to begin with and have always been under my own insurance policy & not my mums...

Its not a case of being an idiot but yes you are an idiot of sorts to be driving a car like this under your mums policy...tell us what 300hp rwd cars have you actually owned or driven daily?

Its inevitable...we get the same thing each winter...kid buys car...kid thinks he can drive car...kid doesnt actually know how to drive car...kids smashes car...kid then cries about it...

Its not just young drivers (dont get me wrong, even experienced drivers can smash their cars,) but thats why recently alot of us younger have had trouble genuinely insuring our cars...

Good luck with the car and i really do hope you dont smash it as per the norm every winter...and also be prepared for a hefty bill from good ol Pip

That bill\'s gonna be over £4000. Do you know that you can\'t build a ncb under your moms name? You\'ve gotta go under your own name sooner or later and having nill ncb is gonna be a killer.

Hey hey welcome bud, another rex in Scotland lol.. at least Glasgow`s only a 20 min drive fae me :P..hope al goes well with your new toy, 18 n owning a rex, lucky man.. just be careful bud, they do like to kick lol..

And why r u having a go Rixio? its up to him how he goes about insuring his car, not u, and i`l think u`l find most young drivers insure on there parents policy for the first few years, a few no claims discount does feck all when your young so it makes no difference.

bumped into Dave and his Dad at WGT and they are really nice guys, obviously love the car as they traveled to pip with it on a trailer over 200 miles to get it checked out, Dave really fell in love with the car like we all did with our own rx\'s and found he could get one using what ever means at his disposal.

If any of us had a chance to own a RX at Daves age (which for me is a long time ago) then we would had used our mums insurance as well, ok no NCB but when the RX bug bites you have to have one.

But Dave do take care they do tend to bite as others have advised, had mine facing the wrong way a couple of times in the past, treat her with respect and you will have many a winter with her, mine was a daily drive for over 2 years come rain or shine, snow or ice and loved every min of it.

Welcome to the club once again, let us know how it goes wiht the rebuild.

Post by: Rixio on September 28, 2007, 12:05:09 AM
Yeh they might insure under their parents policy but not for a 300hp sports car...:)

Im just giving cold hard facts...its drivers like dave that cause the rest of us to pay stupidly high premiums when they end up smashing "their mums car"...its a simple fact, if you dont like it, tough
Title: cold hard facts
Post by: Eddie on September 28, 2007, 12:30:10 AM
I really think Dave knows what he has got into and does not need it spelling out on his introduction thread.

I could have said the same about you, young driver like rixio is why I pay more, but I dont as its your choice now here is a fact, you are young and still more at risk than me 22, 18 you and Dave are high risk, you may well be far better at driving RWD cars than me but statistics show you and Dave are more at risk of crashing

Believe me when I say its not the fact he has 300bhp car that up\'s or policies its just young drivers  in any car including you RIxio.
Not saying young drivers are dodgy or anything, as an advanced driving instructor i teach them and others how to drive, its just experience and as you know each of us have differn\'t experiences.

anyway enough from me us old ones need our sleep not like you young uns who can go all night:)

Iv got 1 years no claims myself at moment, itll do me till im a bit older then ill switch back to me own name. When i was with CiS they give additional driver no claims Bonus.

And Rittio I totally understand what your saying about young drivers crashing and causing your insurance to go up a lot. But at the same time Iv never crashed and have 0 points on license and i still need to pay a lot of insurance for that same reason as well. And ul willltend to find its the boy racers in clios and corsas that are causing it not people like me in faster cars. I dont use my car for goign fast its mainly a show car. I dont need to speed to turn heads in it.

I know im classed as a young driver but at 18 under mummy\'s policy its taking the biscuit, if it was under your own policy it wouldnt be that much of an issue to me...i worked in insurance for 2 years so i know what im bablin on about

aye welcome to the club mate, nice car and when its rebuilt you will have a perfect motor!

Try and prove Rixio wrong and be responsible is all im saying. Hes prolly ****ed off cos he cant get a decent quote! He might come across a bit harsh at the minute, but hes alright...

I started off driving on the old mans policy then went on my own at 22 ive never paid more than £600 for insurance! now i have about 4 years no claims so my premiums are mega cheap and in the long run ive saved thousands and ive had the pleasure of driving nice motors!

If i was to give you advice is to remember is that you must look after your car, although its pretty simple to maintain (most jobs are easily done) but its the frequency you have to watch out for.

Read the FAQs and digest all you can. It will save you lots of money in the long run and someone at some point has probably had the same problems / questions!

BTW Its well worth spending on becoming a member for the knowledge and help the other members give you. This is why i decided to pay and besides this is probably the most friendly car club you could be a part of.
Many suppliers offer discounts to MRC members so you might even save a bit of dosh too.

good luck with it mate

Fronting is actually illegal - if you need to claim the insurance company WILL go round asking people in your street who drives the car regularly - if they get the impression your mum/dad drives it less than 50% of the time you\'ll be in deep doo-doo

No claims bonus made a big difference for me. Even 2 years no claims knocked nearly £200 off! Also if under your moms name and you still gain ncb, make sure   you can carry that ncb anywhere you want. Dont forget ncb expires after a certain time. Some companys only let you use it with that company only.

Rixio, calm down mate. I bet you wouldn\'t be saying all this to his face now would you?

Actually i would but anyway the fact remains...it should be under his own name and not his mums...

Listen kid its nothing to do with jealousy...& thinking its jealousy is childish...its a simple fact that its not your car, your insurance has been falcified therefore you are not legally driving...

I dont understand this, i really dont...a few months back there was another kid with a punto that bought an fd and he got slated aswell so why is this any different? Cos possibly he has a nice car?

Anyway thats the last i will say on the matter...

Enjoy the bills, the winter & dont crash your car...

Lol I dont think Rixio is jealous.... He has a different RX7 for each day of the week! :D

I\'d just be abit careful mate driving round under your mums policy.  The only reason I say that is insurance companies arent stupid and if god for bit you do have a bump and they realise it\'s mainly you driving then they may void your policy, leaving you with a heafty bill and no rx, which isnt a good situtation to be in.  Especially after all the money you\'ve spent buying/rebuilding it.
