Guys,
Heard a few people like different premix methods, please post your premix choice thanks,
Gurj :Laugh
Millers KB2T (castor/synthetic blend) at around 150 to one! or roughly half a litre to full tank of V power,
Bob
Dependant on setup.
No OMP - 150:1 any fully synthetic 2 stroke. The Millers KB2T is a good choice.
With OMP - 400:1 ie 100ml to 40lt fuel. Premixing in conjunction with the omp results in cleaner rotors and housings.
Be aware though, premixing lowers the effective octane rating of the fuel. You should be using the highest octane fuel available anyway, but with winter coming up it is more prudent anyway. :Thumbs-up
John
good advice matey!!!
Millers KB2T at about 100:1
Seems millers are getting a big thumbs up on this one. Are you watching advertisers might be worth getting some in stock.

Ditto that.
What does adding 2 stroke actually achieve? My FC has done 63k without a rebuild and I doubt it\'s ever had 2 stroke/petrol mix. Will it help pro long the life of this engine? I usually only put 20quid in at a time so what would be the best mix if this is going to beneficial to my engine? Cheers
I saw a page lastnight while trawling the interwebs, where you replace the OMP with a shiny ally unit, that efectivly draws 2stroke oil from its own oiltank for useage.

I use Millers KB2T in FB with OMP at 100:1 mix, only since joining this forum. It\'s fear of the OMP failing or working at less than the proper rate that drives me to do it.
It also makes your car smell lush, like a scooter :D
No OMP so 100:1 of Castrol R M.
Great smell :-)
So for 20 litres of fuel how much 2 stroke do i need to put in? ( sorry if sounds a silly question) Reminds of when I used to run 2 stoke bikes!
Depends what ratio you want to use. I keep mine in half litre coke bottles and add one per 50litres for a 100:1 ratio.

Think I\'m going to run this stuff too, coz it just smells so good!!!!
Used to be in the F1 boat scean & they used to use this............. just love it!!!

HI,
I was just wondering what does omp stand for.
thanks
omp=oil metering pump
thanks. cant seem to find anything on Castrol R M oil on the internet can see castrol rs 2t but no rm.
where can i find this please
thanks
and should i use 100ml to 40 litres of v power if i still have my oil pump fitted and twin turbo setup sard fuel pump sard fuel pressure regulator

Sorry made a right **** up of this post. I use 250:1 with the OMP when I work my calculations again! I always add 80ml from a little plastic bottle into every 20 litres of fuel.
Just had a call from JCT 600 mazda as well. A new fuel tank has come into Wakefield stores for me. So I\'ll be able to put more fuel in soon!
BTW Castrol R M has no detergent qualities in it, on a road car you might be better off with A747 (I think thats what its called!)

What do the detergents do?

Nothing to do with the thread.... but WOW..... where about you in swansea & do you go to the G-Tec meets in Carmarthen???
Jono

Another vote for millers from me.
I have a mesured 500ml bottle and i add 50ml for every £10 worth of petral i think ? with omp
I use the valvoline outboard motor stuff;
http://www.valvoline.com/pages/products/product_detail.asp?product=61 (http://www.valvoline.com/pages/products/product_detail.asp?product=61)
It was the only stuff our local motor factors had but it contains additional \'ashless\' detergent additives so pretty good stuff..
I premix at 100:1 but it seems a little smoky so probs will try 150:1 (could just be the turbo leaking tho! How do I check if its the turbo by the way ?)
isnt doind this just an easy way of screwing your injectors?
Quote from: fraser87ukisnt doind this just an easy way of screwing your injectors?
what adding premix?
Remember the rotary engine injects oil into the combustion "chamber" anyway so it shouldn\'t affect the injectors at all. Thing is if you are running higher power than standard the mazda oil injectors aren\'t up to the job of supplying enough oil into the combustion process. Additionally if you run certain ECUs the OMP isn\'t controlled anyway so you need to add premix into your fuel.
silly question should the petrol always be mixed with 2 stroke oil??
Quote from: stockysilly question should the petrol always be mixed with 2 stroke oil??
Not if you\'re still using the stock omp. Some add a little 2stroke (at a more dilute ratio) if running single with a fair bit more power but no need if you\'re running fairly stock with the omp.
as far as i know its a stock omp does anyone have a pic of one?
mine is running an apexi fc on standard settings with twins
So what premix and how much to a tank should I run in my FC with stock OMP. It\'s only for the run down to RS5 tomorrow.
Don\'t think you\'ll get Millers in time, but if you do, I run at 250:1, thats about 150ml to 40 litres of fuel. Some might say I\'m over-premixing at that, but the 12A engine with carburettor is very happy at that ratio. That\'s with a stock OMP in action as well.

Hallo,
Go for a 400:1 ratio. This is 100ml 2 stroke for 40lt of fuel.
J
Quick question: If you have the OMP and start using premix do you need a remap?

Never looked into premixing before but after readind this thread I think i\'ll start doing it, if it helps prolong the life of the engine.

I only do it because my engine is ancient and I worry that the OMP may fail without me knowing.
In the link, I don\'t think I quite go along with the idea that your sump oil gums up the seals - if you use proper mineral with as few additives as possible it shouldn\'t gum up. So then isn\'t it easier just to tip premix in the fuel tank at every stop?

I don\'t disagree with you at all. I\'m not saying the link is correct, or that it is what i believe. I don\'t have any knowledge on this subject at all, I am merely interested. I had a look around on the web and found a site that had an alternative to premixing the fuel and oil, and because somebody asked where the link was, i thought i would post up what i found.
I do agree though that it would be just as easy to add your own oil to the fuel, rather than take up more precious engine bay space and add an extra oil tank + pump into the mix...

Cheers Locki, I realised then that you were simply passing on the link, I didn\'t think for a minute there was any agreement/disagreement. The link might well be right anyway, but my 12A hasn\'t gummed up yet - it goes as well as it did new. Hence my comment that I don\'t think they\'ll gum up with good mineral oil.
