Hi All,
After some advice. Its a long time since I posted on here. Years ago I had a FD automatic RX7. I sold it and have had a variety of cars since.
Im now on the look out for another RX7. My budget is about £5000 max as I also have a aftermarket turbo\'d JDM\'d MX5 that I dont want to get rid of but having just sold another car want another RX7. Really want the Type R manual this time and expect to get a 92/93 model.
I do have a couple of questions and after some advice.
1. Is my budget realistic to buy a car that has seen the engine rebuilt?
2. Any problems with the early FD RX7s I should look out for?
3. I have done some general browsing and seen some where they say engine overhauled in Japan. Trouble is there is not always paperwork to back this up? Is this OK or should I look for one that has a receipt of works in England?
4. Any others hints and tips would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Going to look at this:

Looks a good spec, would go well with my white JDM\'d turbo\'d 5!
Whats your thoughts on the spec?
£5k, for a decent rebuilt standard Type R is not asking too much to be honest.
I\'d keep an eye on here if I was you.
That white one has been for sale for ageeees now.. I\'m told its not in the best condition body and engine wise either?
If they say they have been rebuilt in Japan, look for any that have recent compression tests (with paperwork to proove).
Thanks for the information. Been told getting one with the Apexi Power FC Commander could be a good thing?
Im not too bothered about buying one modded or unmodded, more getting the right car.
I have a another look through the for sale threads on here.
Thanks
Also enquired about this one:

has had an engine rebuild but needs a new sump gasket? Need to investigate the costs on this as likely to be far more then any bits and bobs I have for my 5 turbo.
Unless I\'m mistaken there is no \'gasket\' on the sump.
You use the grey sealant.
I had mine leakd after a diy rebuild and it\'s not an easy fix due to all the stuff under the sump that has to come off just to get at it.

yeah fixing that sump leak aint gonna be cheap or easy!
also make sure its all receipted and look for tell tale signs with that onethat the engine has been out...and get it compression tested!!
