Might be worth having a search on the RX7Club forums. I know there have been a couple over in the US that has done this along with the LS1 conversion.

You mean something like this????

Sorry...... thats an R26b!!!!
Derrrrrrrrrr!!!
Jono
Now that would be interesting...but its a big ol lump the RB26
I searched rx7club regarding that a while back and the opinion was that it would be a silly idea due to the high cost, they predicted about $70,000 which is alot of dosh. It has been done tho. Plus do you want to take away the heart of the rx7 (rotary), you might as well sell it and buy a skyline. Been there done that and an rx7 is soo much more fun:)
Hows about a 13b engine in a 33GTR :p

Pretty sure it\'s the 2.6 Skyline engine. :)
rb26 is the gtr skyline engine code. think the r26b is a dyslexic skyline owner
There is that RX in the states running the Supra engine with twin turbo\'s so no reason why the RB26 cant fit ???
Cossie lump would be a better fit though and has been done here in the UK with GT CULTURE doing so last year ?
yea i agree
lets put a rotary engine in a skyline
it will make it faster lol
^^^^^Hehehe^^^^^

don`t think it would the skybus engine produces more torque. needed to get the big bruisers moving
sure someone will put me wrong on here!!!
the rx with supra engine is built by SP engineering and the 4 rotor is named the 26b like the three rotor being called the 20b - imagine the 26b with twin turbos.....whoa! wonder if there is enough space - sum1 shud build one in uk jus for kicks. lol

the rotary engine is lighter then the RB lump wouldn\'t this help make it faster?

Yes but the Skyline is still a much heavier car than the FD dude, so more to push without so much torque :Laugh

Is this the yellow SP Engineering RX that ive seen pictures of without a bonnet on? It has an RE Amemiya smoothed rear light cover.
Always wondered what that engine was!
Chris
yeah thats the one - but having a 3.0 litre engine in such a light car wil make it very heavy ended and through the balance right off - they must have just built it as one of there demo models -
they have also built an rx7 13b rotary using twin hks gt2835 turbos which was pushin some good power. that would be good to see in action - bet they had a lot of headache to build the car on those turbos using a twin setup. Wonder how they built the manifold to find space to build it like that!?

Thats what I`m planning on doing in a few years when I get enough money. Space is the biggest issue, I have thoughts on how to get round this though. Just a pipe dream at the moment (R26b fund = £0) but I have done a fair bit of research
do you want to take away the heart of the rx7 (rotary), answer: yes i bloody well do! it keeps going pop. fed up with rebuild costs.

go for a V8 then instead of a RB26 a lot cheaper a lot more torque and not as long as the skyline engine and the power pontential is a lot more, a modern american v8 will put out 500hp in NA form and an easy 1000 when charged

If you are in the mids then pop over to Craigs in Birmingham (tinker27) he has a 7l LS1 (in the region of 400lb torque at about 2k I think) and has done a handfull of conversions now for customers. The LS1 is all alluminium, comes with a 6 speed box, sound the bollox and gives good mpg too. Worth thinking about and a proven conversion.
thought ill show you guys an old link ive been saving for a while now :)
