Title: smc capacity?
Post by: marco on September 20, 2007, 07:25:52 PM
Anyone got a ballpark figure for the max power a SMIC can handle? I will be sticking with twins, but (not necessarily stock ones), will a good SMIC be able to handle them, or do I have to look at FMIC/Vmounts? I originally was going to run a charge cooler, looking to reduce the intake length as much as possible, but it became pretty apparent that the pain to gain ratio wasn’t worth it!
Any advice will be appreciated!

Tim at RX motors uses a Stock FD intercooler in his 12a hybrid with a T51 running in the region of 500 hp,   I think he just had ali end tanks fitted to stop it exploding

The stock one flows Very well with little pressure loss but it just wont cool that well.   Its all very well fitting a fduking huge intercooler but its more important to fit in the right place.  There are few threads recently re this issue,  i had a big front mount i/c on my first FD 4 years ago and i was never happy with the water temps.

I have now V mounted a small XS power i/c and it works a treat on road or track!
