been doing some searches, but nothing came up with a definitive answer...
if you remove the air pump, you obviously need a new belt which is shorter.
where can i get one? someone said a mini one might fit???
do i need any blanking plates or anything?
anything else i need to remove it?
when removing the airconditioning, is there anything that needs replaced, belts, blanking plates, etc???
Ive\' got a belt: http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42697
lol.. when you say "tight fit".. how tight? ;)
you really want an underdrive pulley kit as a shorter belt doesn\'t make contact on the stock pulleys correctly (or too tight!?!?!?)
i just ttok off my airpump then cut the original belt in half measured how much shorter it would need to be and cut that amount off of the old belt.
Then i took it to halfrauds and sat on the floor for 20 mins till i found one the rite size!
Did exactlly the same with the air con belt!
give Dwayne at lindopmotorsport a call (click the link at the top of the main page, he shud be able to hook you up with the bits needed, and even fit it all for you if you want
:Laugh
Clive cn get you all the plates n belts buddy, vendor at the top but he`ll prob post soon anywho :)
Lum bud how easy is it to remove the aircon pump? have u gotta drain n remove the power steering pump to? mines been taken out n i want the pump gone to :D
which trader is clive? i will just buy the right stuff - was thinkin of the halfords route as they hav eplenty of belts in - like the idea of cutting, but could be slightly out which could brake it?
its craigs fault im wanting to do this.. he keeps tempting me to alter the car more! :D
Ooooo thats not true lol.. i just have to much time on me hands lol..
Clives MRP bud, top right :) plates £25 i think, n that removes the air pump n acr thingy..
bloody hell! £55.17 for 1 belt and blanking plates! ouch! was hoping a bit less!
Aircon pump is easy mate! Just 3 or 4 bolts if i remember rightly.
I didn\'t drain the power steering pump when i took mine off!
I\'ll have a look n see if there are any marking\'s left on my belts if you like.
May have halfords part numbers on?
Can\'t really get it wrong with the halfords route to be honest! You\'ve got the adjuster on the alternator to take up any slack anyway.
cheers bud, can it be done from the top?.. i`ll hav a wee look tomoz n rip it out lol.. man theres guna be nothing in ma engine bay at this rate lol :D
Rember you probably wont get a 4 pk belt for the size required when removing the air pump, put a 3pk belt on there from any motorist discount store of the correct size.
I searched everywhere (im in the trade) and could not find a 4pk belt so i orderd one from one of the vendors at the top of the forum and got sent a 3pk belt (could have got one of them from anywhere) , after lookng at peoples setup they were all substituted for 3pk belt.
About £4 from the discount store for a good quality one.
Got mine from Clive, was tight as in I had to move the alternator down on the adjustment as far as it would go. It worked ok, just wanted a "proper" under drive setup. If you don\'t fancy that then just measure up and go to a motorfactors and get your belt there.
…so which belt is it than, can it be bought at Halfords ?
I had the water pump removed and pulleys changed but I would not mind keeping a spare belt just in case…you never know…

I found the air pump quite easy to remove...as Lum said its only really 3 or 4 bolts that hold it on. I just followed back from where the air pump connected and removed everything that was connected to it, its quite surprising what you can take off in the end.
This is the wee write up i did of it when i removed mine...
