Title: Introduction and a small request
Post by: od404 on September 18, 2007, 10:20:12 AM
Hi everyone,

My name is Stephen, I\'m 24 from Daventry in Northampton and currently drive a \'93 Honda Civic VTI.

I signed up a few months ago looking for some info on RX7\'s having moved closer to work and not needing to commute everyday.  Since then the wealth of information I found here has convinced me that the 3rd gen RX7 would be  the perfect car for my needs.

I have just one favour to ask...

Obviously there is only so much that reading can tell you, and before spending out any money I would really like to have a proper look at an RX7, mainly to check out the driving position.  So if there is anyone in the Northamptonshire area that doesn\'t mind letting a newbie near their pride and joy I would be most grateful.

Many Thanks

Stephen

John (Warthog) lives in Daventry - although if he takes you out in his be aware you unlikely to find abother RX as quick - they are not all that fast!!

I\'m in Milton Keynes most of the time so if you are down this way you are more thtan welcome to come have a look.

Best thing for you to do is keep an eye out for a meet.  The cars vary so much (single turbo, twin turbo, body kits, wheels, rear seat, bins etc etc etc)  These are bound to be questions you will end up wanting answer too.  Attending a meet with all the various options in front of you will kill a lot of birds with one stone  :)

And one thing is for sure - us Rex owners are always more than happy to \'show you around\' our pride and joys

Welcome  btw

Hi Stephen and welcome. I have to agree with Mark the rex crowd are pretty much the friendliest you will meet, i joined a few weeks back and already been given a guided tour around one members pride and joy up in Scotland. If you find a member near you i have no doubt they will show you theirs (phnarrr phnarrr) and chat about them for hours.

Even with a hangover..... eh Neil !?!?!?!?

Hi mate,

I live fairly close in Rugby and would be more then happy to take a drive over and take you out for a spin. Mines not exactly standard but im sure you\'ll get a feeling for what you like about the car and what you dont.

Warthog took me out round silverstone about 6 months ago, 2 days after i had brought myself one. There is a world of difference between 2 RX7\'s that look identical.

Hope this helps.

Danny

Cheers for the welcome and the replys people, this place certainly has a friendly vibe about it.

I\'m pretty certain of what sort of car I\'m looking for, something that is pretty standard to begin with, maybe a few mods, but nothing particularly wild.  The forum has been a great help so far, but I really just want to get a feel for the general handling of the car and the driving position.

Carrington:  Thanks for the offer, I\'d love to take you up on it if I may.

If i could say that i\'ve owned quite a few performance cars and the driving position of the rx7 is by far the best position i have experienced you can feel the whole car and feel every twitch :Thumbs-up

You really must go out in one and see what i mean :)

Just wanted to say a big thanks to Danny (Carrington) for showing me round his car last night, it was very helpful :Thumbs-up

After some thought last night and this morning I\'ve decided that an RX7 is the car for me and will be finalising exactly what I\'m looking for this and hopefully biting the bullet later this week.

Can\'t wait!
