hi,
Since bout the age of 13 i have dreamed of having a 3rd gen but as i grew older i came accross a problem "Insurance". As i have found out it is very hard to get insured until i am 21!!!!!
However i was wondering if it would be possible to get insured on a 2nd gen and if so how much do you guys tink it would cost?
Thanks for any help
mas
Only way to find out is to call the insurance companys. Take a good look in the insurance sector of this forum. On a second gen non turbo, i would guess a cost of about £1800 tpft @18
you will prob be ok on a second gen i know a 19 yr old insured on one but i dont think you would have much change on a 3rd Gen if u did would be a massive cost
It is possible on a 2nd gen, but don\'t expect to get insurance on a turbo or cabriolet. Go for an EGi and you will see a few benifits:-
1) It will be around half the insurance cost of the others
2) They are very progressive - an ideal way into RWD without the sudden torque of the turbo cars. (Ie you will have a chance to learn about RWD handling at slightly lower speeds...)
3) They have a greater lifespan than the turbos, an 80k+ Egi will probably still have plenty of life in it, an 80k turbo will be a bit tired!
I think if you jump in a turbo rx with no experience at all what will happen is crash it break it cry the end better to try something with less chew you up and spit out the bits first n/a or something imo
Ive got an egi and its fine really, i would like to go faster, but they are fun to drive.
Im 23 and its my first rear wheel drive car, but its nice to learn in.
Probly best to start with, wont feel like your in the deep end, plus parts are a bit less costly.
Try pistonheads ( technically Rex\'s shouldnt be on there ) , but theres a few on there.

Don\'t ever under estimate the EGi - they are fantastic in the twisties and have awsome brakes :yes
yes just get the suspension sorted out first, haha.
that reminds me anyone wana buy me an early xmas present???
You are joking right? If the suspension is iffy that means its worn - get it replaced with new stock suspension and you won\'t be able to fault it :yes
Im hoping i havent seen the best out of it then as mine is tired.
Ive got practically new rear fully adj koni, just need front sorted.
I think tyres arent helping 205/60/15, standards. Like steering a bouncy castle.
Got TII wheels to go on 45 profile, should be huge improvement.
TBH - the stock suspension on the Egi, with origional wheels is hard to fault, I\'d recommend you get the bushes checked and suspension sorted before you try different wheels. A stiffer anti-roll bar is a worth while upgrade, but other than that the stock suspension copes very well.
Oh definately, wheels are last on the list.
Only need front adj shocks, got lower spings already.
Bush kit have to wait till next year.
Got TII anti-roll bar to be fitted, are they stiffer?
A little, racing beat do uprated ARB\'s and they are well worth it :)
Anyway - to get back on topic, go for an EGi :D
Yeah get an Egi, there good fun!
Sorry Brett :Giggle
Yep, go for the EGI. Although i have that engine in a 1st gen :D
Shaun
the EGI is a cooool car - to be honest i prefered it over the TII any day of the week
no silly turbo to put you sideways when you dont want - you could hold it on the red line thru the corners
oohh how i miss mine
