Title: removing sunroof
Post by: grinder on February 10, 2004, 11:02:07 AM
hiya peeps  !

is there a simple way to get the metal panel off from a 1990 Turbo II ?

do i have to remove all the roof lining and such like ( easy to get off - but i probably cant get it back on ! )

i have read the mazda hand book and you have to take all sorts off the car - but all i want is the top panel off

does any one have a simple method of doing this ?

thanks

stu

( it just all seems to go wrong at once - rusty sun roof , flat tyres , RCL packing up , water in the passenger foot well - who in their right mind would buy an rx7 ??? )

trick is remove the roof lining and leave it out (save some weight!!!) :D so u have a damp passenger footwell too? I thought it was just me. do you have horrendous mist problems on the screen and rear window? Once u have got the roof out let me know how easy it was, I need to replace mine (I\'m thinking Fibreglass, carbon fibre or aluminium.:cool

i really dont want to remove the roof lining - it looks a big job

all i want to do is sand and spray the roof panel !! - sounds a simple job - if i can get it out !!

and the passenger foot well - well i thought it was the heater core - which is supposed to be a common problem - which would me that its water out of the cooling system - BUT - its not using water - only happens on uphill and some corners - BUT on the other hand - when i taste the water - its got no anti freeze in it - so im wondering is it rain water that is somehow getting in and finding the lowest point ??

but i think this is also the problem to why my RCL stoppped working - i dont think it liked getting wet !

and misting probs - actually not really - its not that bad to be honest !

i will have to have a good look at the roof and see how bad it looks to be done - and then its how quick it can be done - as i wont beable to use the car in the rain with no sunroof in it !!

im sure it goes from bad to worse - roll on summer eh !
