hi ppl..
spent the day sorting out the dash, and replacing lots of missing screws.
after a lot of anguish, eventually figured out how to remove the dash - bloody hell!!
anyway, removed a little cubby box, and fitted a gauge cluster in one of the din slots...
now trying to fit my dvd player into the remaining din slot.
even with the cage supplied with the unit, it doesnt fit. i mean, the unit just falls back into the cavity!
how do you get the stereo to sit nicely in the space??
also, its a ripspeed motorised dvd unit.. i cant seem to get it to run - in the skyline it wouldnt turn on untill connected to the antenna... no aerial in the car as yet so cant get it to work :( any clues how to bypass it?
okay, got it all wired up and working - can even get a good signal on the radio using only the extension cable without an ariel! :D
just how can they be fitted inside the hole?
Hi. Is yours a double din unit??
I am trying to figure out the same.. but I have a cage setup form a skyline GTr and figure I need a traditional type cage with bend over tags? Do you know where I can get a double size one?
Lee
Halfrauds...
For real?!
I will find one and go see..
Lee
nah, single din unit... :(
I had the same problem go down to halfrauds and buy yourself a cubby hole coin tray thingy to fill half the double din hole in the kit you get from halfrauds it comes with a few different trims for the front of the cubby box you can use one of them as a spacer to stick to the top of the box after that you can then fit your single din above it no problem :D
problem is i am filling half the space with guages...
you got a pic of how those gauges fit in the with the stereo so we can see what problem you got then might be able to suggest a way around it :)
err.. i will when back in scotland.... its just a metal plate that clicks in basically with 3 guages.

Hmm, mine was fine. It has two single DIN slots in mine instead of one big double DIN so I just fitted the cage that came with the stereo. I also fitted that thing that sticks out at the back and that slotted into the hole at the back of the area.
i have nothing in there.. its totally empty (apart from carpet, and the rear wall!)
