Title: newbie question
Post by: gordo on September 09, 2007, 10:52:39 AM
i am new to the rx7 so there is a lot of stuff i need to learn about them. any way i bought my car with broken turbos and partly stripped down. so i have it almost back together but it has an aftermarket exhaust fitted with the cat removed, what do i do with the air separator pipe that goes to it? also on the air box there are two pipes coming off it with a plastic bypass valve on each looks like they should have a vacum pipe coming out the top of it but am not sure where they will go to. could any one help me out?

thanks

Dunno what you mean by the air sep. pipe, possibly to do with the egr valve? If it is then blank it off and throw the egr valve in the bin. Give Clive a ring and he will flog you(you should be so lucky tiger)!!,the blanking plates etc. The valves are dump valves and should be connected to the top inlet bananas. If the turbos are in bits and there are bits missing from the sequential vac. system you will have problems getting them to work correctly. I\'ve just gone through all this with our Grants car and ended up converting to non seq. Its quite a big job but not too difficult and the difference in performance on his car was unbelievable.

Hi Gordo and welcome to Mazdarotaryclub.com

As Bob says the cat pipe is to do with your air pump and you can do away with this if you wish.

It would be great if you can post pictures as this way we can probably help you better.
