Hi guys,
I was fitting a HID kit to my FD yesterday and noticed that its got twin oil coolers which I didn\'t think it had. That got me thinking which model my car is and i was wondering if there was any way of telling?
Cheers in advance guys
Nick
Been asked loads of times before bud,
basically open the drivers door and in the frame you will find the info you require on a white label, should tell you which model you have as in RB / RZ and so forth :D
Cheers for the reply :)
I knew i should have used the search function

Do not worry mate, you dont ask you dont get :Thumbs-up
Arhhh Yes.. I too have the same question though.. Only works if the label is there!! Mine isn\'t! Looks like it never was?
Mine was sold as a type-R.. The logbook is not filled in correct striclty speaking as it is down as a mazda RX7 R and also the cc is 2800 I think! surely that should be 1300? Anyway. Can I confirm if it is a type-R somehow? It has twin coolers, Alcantara front seats leather rears, crappy little FET spot lights in the bumper! (I saw these for sale as specifically from a Type R? That\'s the only reason I mention them) Any thing else to look for?
Cheers

Hmm I think the log book should say 2600cc for the imports anyway. I could be wrong, but I know mine says that!
Nick,
Dont forget to let me know what tail lights are on your white FD fella ;-)
Cheers
have a look here: http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=394&highlight=type
should give you some help (Brian\'s post is very informative)
So, have anyone heared about Type RM then?
Mine one says Type RM...!!
Most likely the RB mate
Hmm.. If your logbook says 2600cc what have you taxed and insured it as? as strictly speaking it\'s a 1300cc?
I thought that\'s what they were classed as for road tax? How do you get over that if your logbook says 2600cc?
Lee
The uk is the only place in the world that class it as a 2.6 just so they can squeeze an extra £65 a year out of you. Everywhere else it\'s a 1.3 and so it should be. I think the recent imports are 2.6 and the older imports from about 2-3 years ago are 1.3. Obviously the dvla cracked down on this to make them all 2.6 greedy b4stards

It\'s taxed and insured as a 2600cc. Has to be I\'m afraid if that\'s what it says on the logbook. Like RobbieRX-7 said, I think it depends on how long ago it was imported, the more recent ones will be 2600cc \'cause of having to pay more road tax!! Grrr!! Sneaky beggars!
From another forum, might be useful

Bar staff indeed! Oohh that makes me mad! Surely that means your insurance is more as well? Or do they appreciate it is only really a 1300cc?! I was looking forward to cheaper road tax compared to my gtr! No such luck there then! Mo fo\'s!
Lee
insurance dont recongise it as \'only\' a 1300cc unfotunately.
Its funny when I had mine one ebay recently, you could tell that all the messages asking about insurance on it were from 17 y/o\'s looking for their first car, thinking that because its only a 1300cc, means they can get insured on it LOL !!
hamc.. Do the frame numbers in the link you posted refer to some numbers I might find on my car? if so then I guess a JFA number is type R2 and JFE would be type R?
Anyone got any ideas on this?
Lee
I enquired a while ago on one and as a second car on a new policy it was half the price of my gtr.. but then I guess the car is also worth a hell of a lot less! What do most people pay.. around £500? Sorry the post seems to be wondering a little off topic!
Lee
Well, are all the RXs coming with the \'Special Edition\' on the label:confused:
there is a few people on here that have got there log book changed by dvla from 2.6 to 1.3. maybe worth asking around
phil
That is exactly what I was going to ask! Dam cheek other wise.. I will investigate that and then I can correct the model on mine as well!
Lee
Myn came in last year fresh import and was registered as a 1.3 so i think its down to the person who registers the car.:xconfused
If you get an engineers report (ie a rotary specialist) then they\'ll change it to 1300cc
If you\'re willing to force the issue I don\'t think they\'d legally be able to refuse - otherwise by the same logic all 2-stroke motorcycles would have to be registered as twice their actual displacement :Nono!
Here here!!
I am gonna get that sorted! the dam government get enough of my money as it is! bloomin stitch up! I checked mine and it is actually down as 2800cc!! what fool filled that out!
So what cc should I be going for it\'s not exactly 1300cc is it? strictly it should be 1308cc (654cc x 2) right?
Cheers
