Just finished fitting a Greddy SMIC to my 94 Type R which pretty much completes all I had intended doing to the car , engine wise. Engine was completely stock when purchased last year, and I have completed the mods on a reliability basis rather than out and out performance. Mods to date are Greddy SMIC, Apexi ECU, HKS BOV, HKS induction , efini \'Y\' pipe, aluminium AST, catback and SAGA gauges. Engine was rebuilt by WGT last year together with new clutch, fuel filter, water pump and thermostat. Just have one piece of intercooler piping to fabricate and she\'s done.
I\'ve just purchased the Innovate AF Wideband A/F ratio meter and I intend to set her up myself ( hmmmm.. I hear you say !! ). The car is a hobby ( RX8 daily ), and so I have plenty of time to walk myself through it slowly and not bust the motor. I have loads of years on piston engines and being a technical engineer understand the science if not the practicalities yet...but I\'ll get there.
Car is currently running very sweet and all readings on the apexi look good, knock , injector duty etc etc so hopefully I won\'t spoil it. But I hate giving someone lots of my money without at least trying it myself. The cost of the AF meter is much less than a mapping session...assuming a rebuild is not the result :yes . However I am nothing if not stubborn.....

i have done the full system soon apexi fc ally ast new bigger ally rad too but am gonna get the intercooler sorted but been advised to get hks panel filter over induction kit if not going for lots of power
Really liking the ducting around the intercooler and also the induction pipes.
Do you have a template for them ?
Good job, and lucky you have a daily RX8 !!!!

The induction pipes were a kit specifically for the HKS set up, and the intercooler piping was part of a universal IC piping kit. I could not get from the elbow to the IC as you need an \'S\' bend of sorts, but with a little fabrication of the remaining pipes from the kit I\'m sure I\'ll get there. All these pipes I bought off US ebay as it lists pretty much everything you need at a good price.
Incidentally the heat shield for the induction kit is the remains of a stainless steel cooker hood I fitted recently. Its very thin, light and stainless. It fitted a treat with little cutting, just the job.
Very neat and tidy engine bay there, job well done i would say bud :King
i think you lie... there is never ever a "i\'ve finished now, no more"! you will always find something else ;)

Absolutely !!
I,ve been restoring classic cars for some 30 years and havn\'t made a penny on one of them, but loved every minute doing it. I\'m trying not to throw too much money at this car as its in great shape, but as you say there\'s always something else I could upgrade or renew.
Just fitting a 99 spec splitter, so when that\'s finished......let me see ....
