Title: Too many sets of wheels.....
Post by: Don Pamponi on September 05, 2007, 10:26:07 PM
Hi folks

My rex is still under the knife at RXmotors (a few complications, but we think she\'ll pull through).

Anyhoo, it looks like it\'ll end up with FC hubs amongst other things so I will have 2 sets of redundant alloys for sale.  15" deep dish revvies & 17" Wolfrace jobbies with new 215s.

All in 114.3 .

May part ex FC fitment wheels.

Should be good when its all done.  Lots of new bits like rack & pinion steering & FC brakes/suspension!  :Thumbs-up

Tim, i may know someone who will be interested in the wheels,   do you have any pics of them.  Also, what are you doing on the rear?, are you going 5 stud on the back to match the front?

Have you got the full dimensions and a price in mind for the revvies?

This is a conversion using FC parts.  (By the way Tony, Tim will be bending ur ear somtime - they are having real trouble with the conversion & you said it was easy! )

As for the wheels, the 17s cost me £600, the n a further £200 for the wider rear tyres.  They aren\'t quite perfect, but you have to look quite close to see.  The rubber is all nearly new (the car lives at RXmotors fort the past 2 years & got there on a flatbed! )

I\'d like a good £250 for the 17\'s, which just about pays for the rear tyres. Maybe part ex a set of your wheels towards them Mark?

The 15s are Revolution RFXs in white with ground & polished rims. These are no longer in production in 4x114.3 ET38, so rare as hens teeth.  I paid £350 for em.  The tyes are all legal, but the fronts are poo.  The rears are fairly new & must be expensive cos they\'re wide (225\'s I think)
I reckon the front rims are 5.5 or 6", the rears are wider, maybe 7 or 8"?

I saw you car at Tim\'s today. Looking good.
You will be running on the same wheels I will be.:mmmm
You have a nice little set up there. What boost are you planning to run though it?

Pete.

Oh poo. I had a hunch they wouldn\'t but thought I\'d double check because the wheels I had on my Lancia Delta wern\'t quite the right PCD but they supplied these bolts with sleeves to enable them to fit. Aah well,no retro wheels for me. Yet.

you could fit Tim\'s hubs, it would give you a brake upgrade too and the 114.3 x 4 PCD you need

You\'d need to swap the rear calipers - going from solid to vented. can\'t remember if the fronts are the same?! and the offset may be different?

By all means give Tim a call at RXmotors (01725 516462) & ask him to post you my hubs & brakes.  You can have them for nowt if you buy the wheels.  All my stuff is painted or powder coated by the way.

I may need the rear hubs, not sure how the 5stud conversion kit works.  Tim would have loads of other parts if mine are needed, but you\'d have to pay for his parts!

Think I\'m running 1bar of booset at the mo.  Gonna go for a larger turbo & 6speed box next!!

Mark, I can\'t photo the wheels at the mo cos they\'re down in dorset on the car.  I\'ll try & dig out an old one for you.  They are Wolfrace Octanes if that helps.

nice to see you stuck with it, lets hope the conversion makes you feel better about driving it more!!

That is gonna be one sweet conversion thats for sure-make sure you follow up with how she drives, thanks a lot for the offer of the brake and hub bits. I\'ll give him a bell tomorrow and see what will be left after the conversion but if not, at least that gives me an excuse to rummage around in aladdins cave!!  If you get a chance I\'d love a picture or two as I am rather interested! djscrumpleton@aol.com (djscrumpleton@aol.com)

Mark,I\'m probably going to RXmotors somewhen this week so if Senior Pamponi has no objections I\'ll take a couple of snaps of the wheels while I\'m there if no other pictures surface.

If anyone does goe to RXmotors, can you poke Tim & Matt with a pointy stick whilst shouting "SEVEN MONTHS, SEVEN MONTHS" repeatedly?  Much obliged.

It was dyno\'d @ 217bhp (at the wheels) before it was fully run in & without the Blitz boost controller & water injection that it has now.  I\'ve asked Tim to run it up again if they have time.  I\'d hope for 240ish @1bar.  It wasn\'t running that much boost the last time & it made 217, so should be interesting....

Post by: captainbizzaro on September 10, 2007, 09:39:30 PM
Very nice,it\'s a similar setup I\'m aiming for eventually but I\'ve just plonked a stopgap 12a in mine to get me through whats left of the nice evenings and I\'ll seriously think about my engine options when it loses the will to live.

I\'ll take a picture of the whole car if you like as you\'ve probably forgotten what she looks like! Stick is being sharpened as we speak....

What size port you have Don if any ?

Dunno, just know that it was ported &  I think the term "aggressively" was used.  You\'d have to ask Tim at RXmotors, he did the conversion for me.

Then there were three.

Yeah, I\'m a bit miffed about wheels at the mo.  I really want the Revvies my self, but I am now 5stud - an unforseen complication.

Don are you still alive mate? hows the new rack? do you know if the 17\'s you have / had were 7.5jj? looking at getting some 18\'s but they are 7.5jj and i need to make sure they fit

Hi Mark

Dunno from memory if the 17\'s were 7 or 7.5".
Get the car back in a week (again, hopefully), so I can check the wheels then.  I know there wasn\'t much clearance whatever they were.  RX8 wheels did fit tho if that\'s any help.

Tim got the half shafts machined last week, so I am now 5staud all round :cool !

Can\'t wait to drive it.  Its running on borrowed Cab wheels at the mo, but I\'ll buy (another!) set of wheels when I find some I like.

How\'s ur yellow jobbie?

How much did the 5 stud conversion set you back ?? Is it just a case of drilling fresh holes in the carriers, discs and half-shafts ?

its fairly straight forward a few shims and some fresh holes, there\'s been a lot of conversions in the US but of course all RH drive

Don
yellow jobbie is going great just looking at a 48ida to get nearer the 200BHP mark
are you gonna make it to the old Skool meet in a couple of weeks?

Hey Tim (aka Captain Biz) - do you still want the wheels?

I\'m going to pick up the RX next week so I need to know whether to bring you the wheels or re-advertise (I realise you\'ve been waiting AGES)

I\'ve lost ur number, so if you have mine get in touch.

Tim
