Post by: Matt on February 09, 2004, 10:49:15 AM
Hi people,

I think my fd is flooded, i have bought a new battery and it still wont start, it starts if i jump start it, but then if i start it again it wont go, i have read the thread about startng a flooded car but i dont know where the fuel pump relay is to remove, could someone please tell me where to find it, or does anyone have a picure of where it is , and is it easy to remove.

Thanks

i started it on sat int he day and left it for 10 mins, i didint want to drive it cos i needed petrol and if i stopped it wouldnt start again. i havent driven it now for around 3 weeks, my dad thinks it could be all the damp in the engine and where it wasnt getting driven much due to the crap weather

Hmmm...see what Carl says about that one..

Some dont seem to like sitting about for extended periods I think its fair to say; I\'d put a can of petrol or two in her then get her going and take her for a decent spin to properly warm her up and clear her throat. Might like to take some with you in case it dies though!

Give us a shout if you want a chase car some time, we can pop out to Tothill like last time, get some juice and then strectch her legs around the A34 :D

See what shes like after that.

Yeah, but he\'s trying to sell it at the moment - so I\'m trying not to drive it too much in fear of cracking the nose cone in half getting in and out of my driveway :( Wouldnt go down too well!

Is it and FD?
If so, removing the fuel pump relay wil N*O*T* help unflooding. The relay does NOT prvide power to the fuel pump, it only switches from one resistor to another, we assume to change the speed.

I had the same symptoms, and have now changed my Leading plugs to 8\'s rather than 9\'s, and its behaving, so far.
