323\'s are amazing. We have an early 90\'s 1.3 16v saloon 323, its done 5 trackdays with the worst possible abuse with no mechanical failures. Before that it had done 100,000 miles of the hardest miles. An old one would be really awesome.

Wow!  That\'s really minty!  My Dad used to have the same model 323 also "S" reg, but it was red - a bit of a retro trip for me! :Thumbs-up

Brett was on about this a few weeks ago, so I\'m pretty sure it must have been the one that was going for more money previously!

Oh well, wish we could have it, but we have Mazda\'s coming out of our ears (in a good way of course - but no more space for more) :(

Ok, fair enough, it was at £1995 before.. come down to £1500, but I still think its a bit steep for that car, beautiful, and rare as it is.

They arent quick. This car pulled Mazda out of the doldrums of the fuel crisis. It was meant to be high volume, cheap, VERY economical, and reliable. And it was all these things. In fact, in South Africa, it was the top selling car for many years.

Engine choice was 1.1, 1.3, 1.4, (1.5 I think) and 1.6.

I would say the performance was "adequate".

wot sort of power did the 1.8 Turbo produce?? 0-60? etc

There have been two generations of 323 4x4 turbo, the 80\'s version would do the 60 in around 7.5sec the 90\'s 1.8 version is a little less than that.  They are very prone to eating drivetrains though, IIRC thats what killed off ther long term rally hopes.

Weve started putting mitsi EVO 3 engines and drivelines in the 1.8 DOHC ones. Solves the gbox probs and unleashes some more go
