Post by: Adie Moore on August 29, 2007, 09:03:46 PM
I\'v tried going a bit of a search and can\'t find much. any one give me some pointers. I\'m under the asumption the it can be done with the dash still in by just removing the glove box, but i cant see any screws or out under there.

cheers adie

If you are removing the Air con condenser, then no wonder you have a problem.
The Condenser is at the front of the car...... Not under the Dash....

Its easy enough, remove glove box, unscrew the plastic box it\'s in, remove aircon gubbins then refit empty plastic box (so your heater still works). Takes a bit of time as it\'s quite cramped down there!

I honestly can\'t remember it was a while ago when I did it. Iirc it was screwed in from underneath if that makes sense? (I was upside down with my head in the footwell looking up from underneath!) Get in there with a torch and you shouldn\'t have too many problems.

The aircon under the dash is bolted to the firewall so you need to get at the very back of it. Also, it forms part of the whole heating system which is about 4 seperate lareg boxes under the dash. They are all \'lipped\' together to keep the airflow,so once you have the bolts undone you have to split the boxes apart where they join and manhandle the unit out. Trust me, they also appear tobe about 100 times larger than you expect - it\'s like the bloody tardis under that dash.

are still in mine too.

I\'m hangimg my head in shame as i write this, but i gave up. i could only find one bolt, bulkhead, removed that but it still did not want to come out. i sapose i could have beat the sh1t out of it but as it has to go back together, i thought best of that.

The other bolt is over the top of the box. You need a socket extension about 6" to reach it. Once thats undone, the box just drops out. I did mine a couple of weeks ago.

My blower doesnt work, with this part of the air con system removed? so i have tried to remove just the electrics from the, air con box, there was a few blown fuses and some smouldering wires. I thought it was just a case of removal
