Just looking for a little advice as I\'m due to collect my RX7 Type R on Sunday :-)))....I\'m due to exchange my rear storage bins for the original rear interior, seats and belts etc...at the request of my wife (for the kids..apparently!!).
The car originally had rear seats but the previous owner replaced them with the bins, anyone got advice how to exchange them, tools required, points to look out for and estimated time to completed.
All advice gladly welcome!!
Hi, I\'m Ben from Essex - I spoke to you recently about your bin\'s, do you have an exchange setup with someone yet? Just wanted to know that\'s all!
You\'ll find all you need is just a phillips screwdriver, some wrenches with attachments and a flat headed screwdriver. Most of the interior is clip fit, I found this out when I fitted some new rear speakers and removed the belts in the front and back to fit harnesses.
cheers
Ben
Ben.
I sincerely apologise for not getting back to you..your mobile no. was dotted on an envelope..which was never to be seen again!!
I\'ve set up an exchange, but should the deal not work out, I will let you know ASAP, through this forum, and organise something. Thanks for the advice.
That\'s alright mister, keep me posted should it fall through or if you need any help. I think it\'ll take a good 4 hours to do although it depends if you end up doing with torches!! :p
Ben
ive have the rear storage bins in mine... ne1 wanna swap? im thinking the same as u Initial-D
. but i have no kids. lol
Hi Carlos, providing there in good condition I\'d be happy to swap with you. I\'ve had the panels off before so I\'m happy to carry out the work one weekend.
Let me know what you wanna do!
Ben:wave
Phew - that was hard work!!
It did take about three hours for the seat swap in the end between three of us. I did do some ground work on getting the seats out first while waiting for l3ggy to arrive. It wasn\'t too bad apart from one of the seatbelt bolts being a pain in the arse; this requiring a handy piece of metal piping to increase the torque applied with the socket set.
If anyone plans to attempt this swap, I would suggest you also have plenty of plasters handy (in addition to the tools) as we\'ve all shredded our hands in the process.
Cheers to l3ggy and mate (sorry I\'ve forgotten his name already) Hope you had a good drive back up to Bonnie Scotland lads! Look forward to calling in to see you both one day when I come up to your part of the world!
What are the part differences between the two? I might swap my rear seats out for the bins, is it just the actual bins/buckets and divider that is different or are the panels/speaker panels at the side different also??
I remember Pip saying that he thought there wasnt enough carpet down when you did one of the swaps but he wasnt sure which way, bin>seat or seat>bin, can anyone shed any light on this process and tell me the parts required??
Thanks
Ryan
I have a set of rear seats if anyones interested?
