My very generalised question is what turbo would people recommend when going single, including trims and ratios, and what size wastgate would people suggest....
Now the answer is not easy I know, but I\'m looking for around 300 - 350 bhp and a reasonably quick spool up, and good mid-range response.
To narrow it down a little more I\'m looking at a T04E with .50 A/R compressor and a .63 A/R turbine...
Thoughts??
Chat away...
Mike.
if your looking for flywheel then stock twins would do or uprated twins
rwhp? i dunno sorry
Quite a few guys have gone GT35/40, I think they are quite good and should be cabable of around 330RWHP at 1BAR - properly tuned of course :)
Being a Ball Bearing turbo helps with the quick spool.
I\'m sure you will get some answers from others on here who have them.
I think Max will be on the dyno soon with his 35/40, I dont think his numbers will disappoint :)
Its a very quick and VERY smooth car his silver car.
Thanks for the response guys.
Anyone running a T04E though? Or anyone know of cars running this turbo? If so what ratios are they running??
I\'m looking at this turbo as they seem about the right size for a quick spool time, and good power. Not sure on the top end power though - do they run out of breath??
Also what size external wastgates are people running??
Cheers,
Mike.
Gary Marks has a T04E on his yellow car...couldnt tell u what size wheels or housings it has though.
T04E wont run out of breath if you spec it right (obviously I guess); the aussies use big wheels and housings and make 380kw on them. But a custom spec\'d one I guess will cost you more than an out of the box HKS job... I guess if you\'re not going to shove stupid boost through your motor or go for big numbers an off the shelf T04E would be great. You can always play about with housings later if its not got quite enough top end?
Wastegates, any thing from 45mm and larger; the big HKS wastegates (e.g. 60mm GT/Race) are meant to be good. They also cost a lot of cash. Turbosmart are well priced and the Progate (45mm) is as used on lots of big HP aussies drag cars so cant be all that bad! Then theres Tial and \'netics, both good and again well priced I think.
A 0.63A/R rear housing is a tad small, I would try to get a 0.84 for the power level you want. I would use a 45mm wastegate. which one also depend on the manifold, unless you weld on a different flange.
I think Dragon has a TO4E kit. (it maybe sold)
