Post by: BigDave on February 06, 2004, 10:44:32 AM
The centre exhaust box on my 1990 turbo 2 is knackered. Should I remove it & or the front cat & replace it with a straight through pipe.

I\'ve been wundering about this myself, cause it isn\'t a \'92, I\'m assuming that it\'s not a problem?

Any more ideas... anyone?

i was looking at a t2 without a cat, when it was at a rotary garage, the guy told me the t2 isn\'t as easy to get detination with due to the stock ecu being more tolerant.

so im pretty sure just a de-cat is ok:D

youll need a fuel cut defender...
catless will generate additional boost..
check out racingbeats full system...

How about if I just remove the mid-box & leave the cat at the front alone??
As it is the mid-box thats blowing.
The engine is the original with 95000 miles on it & I dont think it\'ll take kindly to any additional boost & stresses.
The last thing I want to do is blow the engine!!!

My 14yr old TII has just passed its MOT and it flew passed the emmisions test. The guy thought that his equipment was broke!
It registered almost nothing!!!!! I had to explain to him that it has two cats and that it blows fresh air into the last cat which dilutes whats left (kinda cheating in a way) but it obviously works!:cool

you should beable to remove both cats no probs !

i cant see why a fuel cut defense would make much of a difference - all that does is stops the fuel cut to the rear rotor at say 7psi

that should have nothing to do with the exhaust

ask pip - hes the best guy at WGT autos

mine had had the main cat removed and looking at 75 for the front removed plus about 1 hours fitting

now i am lead to believe that by decatting the engine will breathe a lot more freely - which is a good thing

have a read on the 2nd gen forum at upgrade stages - there is some good points in there ( and yes - i did start that thread ! )

thanks
