Had a call from Miguel this afternoon to say that he\'d just bought my RX-7 :)
Been looking for a little while but that was mainly because I\'d tied the spec down quite tight and I wanted to make sure that the right car was found rather than rushing in. I\'m going to be sent more info and pics soon but the basics are
RX-7 Type RS
Sept 2000
15k miles
Innocent blue
Totally standard
One owner from new (grade 4.5)
Credit to Miguel (again) as he has found exactly what I was after, albeit right at the top of my budget :rollin but this was apparently too good to miss out on and that\'s fine by me :cheers
Now just got to wait and wait and wait.....
Andy.
p.s. sorry for the over exuberance but I\'ve just come back from celebrating at the pub *hic* Any excuse for some :guinness
hmmm sounds nice bring on the pikkies ;)
Si
n1 mids, like si said thou! GET THOSE PICS UP :D
& you should have it in time for some of the more fruity meets in the summer ;)
Si (oh yes you will come to midlands mini meets too it\'s the law & northants aint to far :p lol)
lol, I\'ll wait for the pucka pics because all I\'ve got so far is a couple of small grainy pics from the auction.
I might have some questions for you two Newera peeps about Motormall stuff etc so expect to be hassled nearer the collection time ;) :D
I also got my \'96 RS through Miguel and Motormall; had a lot of work done at Motormall too, so feel free to fire any questions, I know I was on the phone a lot to Motormall with tons of questions.
will do thanks :)
Mids, my second RX7 is probably on the same boat ;-)
now that\'s just greedy... lucky sod... if I could fit it on the driveway, I would too haha
nice one Steve :cool What spec have you bought ?
I\'m hoping that the Japanese sailors have bought a few HKS bits and pieces for the ships engine so that it gets here a bit quicker :D
modding ships.. now there\'s a niche :D
That would indeed be cool!
6 weeks to get here, can\'t believe it takes that long in this day and age! hehe
Mids, if you look on Newera\'s website you\'ll see my new baby hehe - it\'s the Black 96 RX Bathurst. Or, visit http://www.southernrotors.com/theblackone
Getting a bunch of FEED stuff of Geff at Re-Worx in a week or so for it. Should look pretty awesome when I\'m finished. Taking the wheels of my Silver one for it.
That looks great Steve - how shiney ? :cool
I got my pics and info from Miguel this afternoon. You know how detailed he is with pointing out the smallest of problems ? well all he wrote for mine was
"The only fault I could find were rusty bolts on either side - securing the headlamp mechanisms"
so I\'m happier than a pig in sh*t at the moment :D
I\'ve got loads of pics but if you\'ve seen a standard MY2000 Type RS in Innocent blue then you\'ve seen them all so I won\'t post any on here but here\'s a link (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andy.middleton1/rx7/).
Thats a very nice, Very standard beautiful Rx7.
Thats going to make you very HAPPY :p :) :D ;) :cool
Hello all
:wave
first post here
Nice cars guys.
My First ever Rex may just b on the same boat. Cant Wait.
Think its the car directly behind Andy\'s in the pics:D
Excellent :cool Newera will have enough cars to charter their own boat at this rate !
If you want me to host any of your photo\'s Tez, just send them in an email to andy@rx-7.co.uk and I\'ll sort it out.
I wonder if anyone on here owns the black one in front of mine ? That\'s got a mental rear wing on it
lo Tez & :welcome :wave
get some pics up for us to drool at asap :D
hope just coz ya in wales doesn\'t mean you won\'t come out and play to the meets :D
Oh i\'ll definately b out to play.
Especially if this car is half as exciting as you guys make them sound.
Cant wait.
Oh and here\'s a pic. The wheel\'s arent the nicest, but miguel said they were very rare and sought after in japan.
:D
oh they are as fun as we say!
This morning I went out for a 25 mile "drive" as I thought "well I must take it out just to see how the oil I put in yesterday flows" :D
you need to post the pic dude, think you forgot.. ;)
Well mine leaves on the 29th Feb hopefully, thanks to Newera I\'m soon to be the proud owner of the 92 RX-7 Type R - RE Amemiya on the webpage. Dont know what people up here will make of it as I\'m near John O Groats (furthest north RX maybe??) & the all we seem to have is evo\'s & wrxs & one lone supra.
Anyone know where I can get an english Handbook?
Any specialists in scotland?
whoops Sorry
i\'ll try again
And i think this is Gerry\'s next to mine:cool
Tez,
How many miles you got on it??
That\'s 3 black Rex\'s on they\'re way then! hehe - Looks like I have a job on my hands to make mine stand out ;-)
cool pics, look fwd to seeing them in the flesh :D
Yup Tez thats my one if I didnt get it I was going to go for your one if it was available
I\'ve put a few more pics of Tezezzzez car online here (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andy.middleton1/tez/). Got to say I like those wheels Tez but I\'ve always been a fan of anthracite alloys :cool
Gerry - you can order a handbook by telephoning Mazda on 01892673319 and quoting Part No 8C71EE92A (this info kindly supplied by Clive on another thread somewhere :D). I think it cost me about £20 including p&p.
pics of my car
More
& another
Very nice Gerry.
Cheers for the link Andy. Yeah the wheels are growing on me.:D
43k on the clock.
That RE-Amemiya Wide body Car is an awesome beast,
I talked to miguel about it.
I might go and look at it before it leaves japan.
I want to get some ideas about the rear fenders for mine.
See how the wide body has been installed.
I think with some nice rims it would look absolutely awesome.
The 17\'s are too small IMO.
As for the Buddy Club P1\'s, Nice wheels dude.
Russ.
lol, nice photoshop :D
Those Volk TE37\'s are lush. Are they seriously expensive in Japan as well ? I enquired about getting a set over here but it was going to be well over £2k including tyres :(
damn everyones car is beautiful. I remember when mine used to be nice, now its in pieces going through a new style .
Apparently, the boat lands in the UK today (woo hoo!) so it\'s about time that I tried to sort out a few things in preparation. If anyone can help answer any of the following questions then it\'d be mucho appreciated....
1. Alarm. I need to get an alarm fitted and after having a couple of systems that gave me grief on previous cars, I\'m going to stick with the one system that worked faultlessly which is a TOAD Ai606. Can anyone recommend a TOAD fitter who has experience with the rx-7 ? I live in Northampton but would be prepared to travel for a good job.
2. Fog light. Need to have one fitted for the SVA but I\'d really like to avoid having an ugly one hung off the back. Are there any of you Motormall peeps out there who managed to get it installed within an existing light cluster (reversing light ?).
3. Servicing. I\'m trying to pick a local garage to use for maintenance. I\'ve read Si\'s report on Hurley in Coventry so they aren\'t an option. There are a few garages near to me who say that they have rotary experience but I\'ve never heard anyone mention them on here. So, has anyone ever used...
JPS Motorsport (http://www.jpsmotorsport.com/) in Milton Keynes, or
Option motorsport (http://www.optionmotorsport.com/) / m.r.tuning (http://www.mrtuning.co.uk/) in Silverstone ? (good Skyline reputation but has anyone taken their rx-7 there ?)
that\'s all, for now ;)
lo mate, bet ya can\'t wait!!
If ya going down to the docks, on ya drive back go into sextons in maidstone. He does toad and I seroiulsy doubt a lot of people can touch his prices..
Sextons
Spectrum Business Estate, Bircholt Road
Parkwood
Maidstone
ME15 9YP
Kent
Tel: 01622 683044
Fax: 01622 683950
you wanna contact Matt Harwood for that :)
best thing about that place is you can spend a delightful few hours at leeds castle enjoying the sights while they fix ya up :)
Motormall stuck mine in the cluster for £30 or so I think it was, lovley job, well worth doing
JPS are real good but whether you can get in there is another question they are usually always busy
dunno what the other two are like. I\'m in bedfordshire, and I\'m anticipating doing all the regular changes myself (oil, plugs, belts etc) and maybe take it along to Reworx / someone like that for a major milage service. For any other bits I just use my local mechanic, but think he\'d be a little far for you :(
fog lights there are a few options click here for previous thread (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3162&highlight=breeze+block) i was due to be getting sum kinda twin conversion done by motormall, described as twin filament to me which i understood to mean turning one of the rear lights into two dual use lights. I heard this had very good results but sadly never got to tell myself as it never got done so still have a big hang down un at the minute but i did get the sleek one, think it\'s on the previous thread, which i\'ll get fitted now i guess.......
Si
oh (short term memory loss strikes

lol) alarm i can recommend a daddy of clifford products in Birmingham if that was any good to ya? Oh looks like he does Toad etc also as per http://www.motorguarduk.co.uk/ (http://www.motorguarduk.co.uk/) & yes my thoughts on suppliers are now that it\'s worth burning a bit extra petrol to get to a decent 7 specialist, not sure which one would be nearest Northants to be honest, do Jimmy\'s do servicing etc they\'re in Norwich as i recall.....
Si
Thanks for the replies, I\'ll get in touch with both of those alarm installers to see what the score is. After collecting the car from Motormall, it would be frustrating as hell to then not be able to drive it whilst it was having an alarm fitted :rollin but Maidstone would only be about 30 miles away so it might be convenient.
Jimmys is about 130 miles away from me so I\'d prefer to find somewhere closer if poss but I\'ve heard good things about them and a guy I know through work bought his car from there and he\'d had great service from them (replacing a couple of bits without any niggles).
motormall fit alarms, dont know what system but it might be worth speaking to them when they get your car ?
Motomall - good guys for mechanicals but alarms?
they fitted mine, collected car, drove home, got in bed and the alarm started at 11.30pm. couldn\'t switch it off no matter what i tried much to the amusement of next door! not
Even called the police as i was getting worried.
Asked motomall for the fitters details (who installed the alarm) to complete my warranty paperwork and have not heard anything since except a nasty voice message on my mobile asking for the £400.
Well I\'ve removed it and its in a cardboard box ready for them to collect.
sorry for bleating on but I feel better for getting it off my chest!
Andy
I had my alarm/immobiliser/tracker installed last August by Motormall (where I picked the car up from), I am pleased with the setup, it lets me sleep at night, the only issue was the battery drain probably caused by the active tracker part of the system and the lack of driving I do to charge it.
I keep it on a trickle charge when I know I won\'t be driving it for a week or so.
don\'t motormall only do Scorpion / Laserline ones?
Mids, I did the same mate, it was paintful to leave it, but it\'s handy to sort on the way back.. he\'s certified toad / clifford guy
plus leeds castle has peacocks!! FUN FUN FUN :rollin
peacocks ??? you never said anything about peacocks - that decides it then !! :cool
Actually, my experience with alarms is that a badly installed / cheapo system can be a right ball ache so I\'d rather put the effort in up front to try and find an installer that comes well recommended.
Motormall have only offered Scorpion but I\'m gunning for a TOAD !
hehe there\'s a white one too... looks a right hottie! ;)
yeah I thought i\'d shell out for the business on mine for insurance purposes but when it came to them they didn\'t even ask what type it was :D *sods law*
Toad are meant to be a little less hastle free than a clifford, I was recommended one of them rather than the clifford but I got swayed by gadgets... turns out I still don\'t know how to remote start my car a year later lol :rollin
Andy you not got distruction manual?

Si
I sure have... that\'s what makes it worse hehe ;)
Sorry to drag up an old thread, but Andy have you worked out how to get the remote start working.
I can tell you how if need be, i was flumuxed to begin with, especially as I never got an intellistart manual:rolleyes: but quick call to Gap sorted it, you have to arm it while engines still running, safety feature so its not left in gear and decides to remote drive as well as remote start. And i doubt it would be a More Than ad style outcome!
