Title: How to fill the holes in the boot when removing spoiler
Post by: gmogle on August 14, 2007, 07:31:19 PM
Guys,

Am gonna be fitting a 99 spec spoiler shortly and know there are 2 holes that are left uncovered.

What do you use to cover these up ?

Also when I take my old spoiler off is the paint likely to be dodgy underneath ? Any recommendations of what to do ? Apart from respray obviously lol.

Cheers,

Gareth

The easy way is to get two gromits push them in the holes and touch them in the colour of your car. The proper way is to Weld the holes up and have the gate painted. :)

depends on the colour of your car, red and your in trouble as it fades like a bugger, anything else and it would be worth a good t-cut and polish of the boot before fitting the spoiler. turtle wax colour magic worked with limited results under my bonnet. the holes would need plating and filling before respray to look original though. the only other thing you could try to keep cost down is rubber bungs sprayed with an aerosol spray but the paint will crack if the bungs are disturbed. you could fit them, mask the area and spray to try and stop cracking?. short cuts will show. good luck. jon.

Cheers for the replies, luckily the car is black, so not fussed if a rubber gromit is on there.

Where would I get those from ? Halfrauds ?

probably, or any good motor factors from yellow pages. would be best to get some silicone sealer to seal them in with. jon.
