Hi all,
having heard how to fix sticking on front brakes at rotorstock$, I decided to give it a go. Front whhel off, caliper off, look at the seals really careully. Seal has small hole in it thats why its rusty. Carefully pump out piston; small hole in seal is actually four tears. clean up caliper, ready to go get new seals today, but, the computer at my local mazda dealership won\'t accept the VIN number. Check on the RX7 models and they start at FC.
So, do I import the caliper seal kit? or does anyone know someone here in the UK? And what happens when I want other parts?
Let me know what you want and Im sure I can get it from Japan for you.
Im also now slowly compiling 1st gen part numbers to add to our database for easy on line ordering.
The local mazda dealer to me says that he can still get the parts from mazda but the system now doesn\'t cover anything older than the 2nd gen. You need to supply them with the parts number if you want them, there are plenty of parts cats on the net :D

pretty sure i have a parts list (also have some complete calipers if you need them to get by)

Not all dealers have a parts list anymore, but that does not mean that Mazda has "withdrawn support". I can get many RX-2 parts still, if I provide the part number.

A lot of part numbers now do not work for the Gen 1 at Mazda dealerships however they DO still recognise the chassis numbers and even if the part number does not appear to exist then they have the option of contacting Mazda direct with your chassis number and then Mazda creates a "new" part number and the part is able to be ordered.
Sorry but you have been fobbed off, go and talk to them again and tell them what I have told you if not find a dealer that cares!
By the way, the "system" means the computerised , part number look up system.
Some dealers have microfiche and can look up part numbers on that. The current ordering system is used even if the part number came from the microfiche.
If you\'re really stuck, call TW White in Byfleet, ask for Darryl in parts, and I reckon he will send you whatever you need. (he doesnt have a fiche set, but he phones a branch that has, and gets the numbers from them)
Did you speak to the riverside Mazda dealer near Northamoton?
apsolute waste of time there i went down with a Mazda fan belt in orgional packing he took the number from it and told me it didn\'t exist!, i asked him what did he have in his hands and he couldn\'t answer me!
i use a dealer near where i work (Hatfield / St Albans) they are spot on and delivered the belts for me, there number is
01727798888
let me know how you get on i was thinking of replacing the seals in mine when my new discs and pads arive

All as above really. Rotechnics in Reading are good at parts also JCT 600 dealership in Leeds e mail Mazda in Japan for me and ring back a week or so later with availability. Last part sourced this way was an exhaust back box which came from Belgium eventually.
Only other proactive thing you can do is collect parts when you see them come up on e bay or in local papers secondhand.
Sorting the part numbers and getting a an illustration is the longest job for me.
If you guys have part numbers I can get them on my site and make my job of cataloging quicker and esier

I\'ll do a listing of what part Nos I\'ve kept written down. I\'ll hopefully post it next week (away a few days now).
Gary, you had any luck with the bits i asked about?
Funnily enough we (Moonwrap and I) were in Mazda Wolves on Friday, they do still have the part numbers, but they will have to check the Microfish and not the computer. :yes

Used these guys for the MR2 quite good prices, and priced per pair (usualy quite a lot of rubber bits worth doing the whole lot while you got the caliper off) They dont have the FB on the site but they maybeable to source them or Advise where, Friendly chaps on phone :D
