Title: s5 90 turbo II alternator on Gen1 S3
Post by: mpk490p on August 12, 2007, 08:28:27 AM
my alternator was playing up last week, took it apart and thought i had fixed it but after some runs at RS4 it started eating my belts and was smoking rather well after what was to be my last run!!
it got me home (only 3 miles) just running a charge over 12v
i have a gen 1 series 2 to get me by (50amp) but the gen 1 series 3 one i had is a better design and 55amp, i\'m looking to upgrade that while i doing it to a turbo II s5 alternator not sure on the amps but i think they are 70 or 80 so better for my ignition and a upgrade in ICE, alarm etc
apart from upgrading the gauge on the main wires and changing the connectors do i need to do anything else?
i have a double pully on my current alt does anyone know if this fit also?

thanks
Mark

I think the shaft diameter is larger on the TII ones ... the wiring is pretty straightforward with no real drama just have a search on Ausrotary for a diagram and you are sorted.

larger diameter should be fine, just worried that the standard wiring might fry with the extra amp\'s!
