Hi Guy\'s I am currently on the otherside with the Skyline chaps but looking to chnage my ride to an FD3.. I am after a cheap project car. Non-runner, damaged or even engine missing completely! Anything considered.. preferably black/green or good blue respray.. Again though anything considered.
Thank you.
Please reply to this post or come and find me on the //www.gtr.co.uk with the same user ID and let me know.
Cheers

Thanks Paul I will try and look into a couple of these.. The dodge viper blue one on Piston heads was the one I really wanted! Had alomst struck a deal.. then I can\'t get hold of the fella.. very fishy?!
Autotrader isn\'t somewhere I have looked much as it is generally top dollar.
Thanks again
Lee
Paul,
to me the red one on auto trader looks best if it is a manual? I hate red but can afford a respray at that price! engine is supposed to have been re-done as well.. only thing I am not sure on it what is the difference with UK spec cars? better or worse? BHP?
Please help on this one..
Thank you
Lee
were u interested in a deal with the skyline at all?
I understand the uk models can have rust issues?
seperate note....if you know anyone who wants a skyline, i\'m trying to sell my standard R33 gtst :WaveBye
Also, Kerim @ Powergains on 07903 758249
Tell him Steve said to call you....
No the UK models was prepped for the UK weather, the imports have to be wax oiled when they get her.
The only difference is the boost seting - turn the boost up to 0.7 and there you have it 255bhp.
Leeroy - If the red one has a reciept for the rebuild then its the cheapers 7 i\'ve seen - UK models are rare and worth more. Plus cheaper insurance.
Most old car could benefit from resprays and the RX\'s look great with bodykits so this can do done in one big hit.

hmmm are you sure about that? it doesnt sound right to me....
Most Uk models have rust....ive seen 2 that dont and the majority do. Imports are far less likely to have rust fom what Ive seen as they tend to have spent a lot more time in japan than here.
Also uk cars have an additional cat in the downpipe which is very restrictive so i cant see it being a case of just "turn up the boost"
In Japan they dont get the cold weather like us, so they dont salt the roads. Salt is the biggest course of rust - so yes the Jap cars should be fine. But when brought over here they need 2b treated.
The UK version was treated from new - and as far as i\'m aware the uk RX\'s only difference was the boost

True but not quite all the way there....Jap cars are treated but only very finely....it is wise to have an import treated for around £60.
HOWEVER UK spec\'s rust a hell of a lot quicker because they are exposed to more adverse weather conditions. If you brought over a same age jap spec car and compared it to a UK spec car, I\'ll bet the jap spec car is in better rust condition.
So it is better to get hold of a jap spec and treat it....
Other differences are the uk spec\'s are normally fully loaded with sunroofs, leather interior, cruise control but you can get these on an import....I just forget the type....
Thanks for all the info chaps.. Am not a fan of leather interior anyway! So I think other than that the Jap model wins!? I have been trying to import one for a while but keep missing out on bids.. To get one that cheap in Japan doesn\'t really happen.. you only win if you are looking for a grade A car really.
Alex.. I might be tempted into a deal dpending on what\'s to offer.. I was hoing to keep the GTR for a bit and see which I prefered! If it\'s a mint car you are trying to swap then I very much doubt it ut try me!
Cheers

Thanks grizzly.. I am aleady on it!! the main thing that concerns me is wiring loom and oil cooler plumbing. There are twin and single oil cooler models but do they both have the same plumbing? Also are all the wiring looms the same or do I need a motor forma 1992-1995 model. Please can someone confirm this.
Also there is the small point that half the car is in pieces and seeing as I have never seen inside an RX-7 yet alone taken one apart there is the small problem of putting it back together correctly! What do you reckon that\'s worth anyway? I was thinking £1000 tops for al the above reasons?
cheers
Lee
its prob worth its value in parts which would be around 1200 id say...
Give Tim at RX Motors a shout as he normally has a few in various degrees of condition, engine and body wise.
That car just needs a pre 95 engine, box and harness, you need to find a car being broken and buy the engine as a Complete unit.
As long as its a 8 bit engine and loom (four plug to the ECU) i don\'t think you\'ll have a problem.
Thanks Grizzly.. Is pre-1995 including 1995? I thought the model change was 1996? How can I check if the ECU is 8 BIT is it written on it? Or are the 4 plugs a good indicator?! The engine I was looking at is from a 1995 model RB..
Who are RX Motors? where are they and how can I contact them? Are they dorset way?
Cheers
Lee
an 8 bit ecu will have an N3A7 code on it... i think 16 bit is N*F* (* means i cant remember what numbers go there)

Yep as One2watch says N3A7 or all the 8 bits have 4 plugs so that would work too (16 bit have 3)
Also it includes 95, i only said 95 as opposed to 96 because its a safe bet it\'s 8 bit (i\'m not sure when in 96 they changed to 16)
Also if you are change the hole lot (engine loom etc etc) you may want to look into fitting a 16bit engine, i know it can be done but have never really looked into it so i couldn\'t tell you. I know it can\'t be mixed and matched but if you find one thats being broken its another option.
Rx motors //www.rxmotors.co.uk if you are not far from them its worth taking a trip down (its an experiance :))
Thank you again gents..
more than helpful.
