Title: Comments on these spark plugs please?
Post by: scooby_si on February 04, 2004, 12:39:58 PM
Just wondering if the rusty kinda colour on the actual thread etcsignifies these are old plugs which maybe hadn\'t been in car for a while or whether rusty bits could be water in engine or is this total bull?
Comments please?
Cheers
Si

They look like they\'ve been in some time!

Cant see the electrode end clearly enough to comment, but shove in new ones and check every few thousand miles :)

hmm yeah i was more being suspicious that even if they\'d been on a car for ages the threads etc wouldn\'t of gone that colour ie that those weren\'t actually the plugs which were from my car but hey maybe that\'s just me being paranoid but we\'ll see.......
I\'ll get more illumination on my end lol tomorrow.......

no hence why i\'m a little sceptical ATM as "they" were trying to make out it ment seals were on way out & thus rebuild loomed but its not eating any coolant & Miguel said the same that it wasnt using any coolant etc so er was looking to see if it was obvious BS/scare mongering etc presuming ;) those were even the plugs from my car, wasn\'t sure if rusty threads etc may be a sign of sitting round a damp workshop for a while, say for example ;)

Hi Si,
How is your car running?
I think that is the important thing really. You say that it is using no coolent, well that\'s a good start.
If it is running ok other than that then I would say keep driving with a set of new plugs and don\'t worry too much.
If you want to know more, you could always PM me.
Kind regards
Carl;)

cheers m8 still seems to be saying too much boost ATM now i\'m plugged into boost guage, although it was reading dodgy to start with this was probably due to a bet of water in the bits & bobs now seems to read properly & still capable of going over 1 bar if provoked  so not provoking at this time. In other words visit to Hurley hasn\'t proved to be very productive so far (http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0903/sauer/angry-smiley-037.gif) but i\'m booked in to pay Pip a visit next week see if that will be more revealing & may check the other ;) work which has supposedly been done, watch this space....

slightly better & adjusted to brighten up pix of plug ends:

Sparks looking good.

the brown color indicates a good gas / air mix. So you car is runing not to lean and not to rich, so just right.

PS. if you dont know the milage of the sparks, you are on the safe side to replace them.
