Title: A few questions..
Post by: gee1 on August 08, 2007, 01:06:49 PM
I\'ve just sold my fd and have been offered an fc turbo for a very good price, has anyone else made the same change? and how do you find the change in running costs etc?
Although fd\'s aren\'t exactly unreliable, are the fc\'s stronger less \'fragile\' cars?
Thanks for any thoughts/experience you can share!

Gareth

The FC is a more solid car, less prone to throwing a strop for no good reason too!

I\'ve never had any reliablity problems with any of the seconds gens I\'ve owned. (On to number 4 now...)

With a few tweaks here and there an FC can keep most mildly tweaked FD\'s at bay too ;)

engines seem to last longer, less knife-edged when it comes to fueling (rich/lean). They are still rotaries though so same maintenance rules apply.

Easier to work on, more forgiving but not lighter on the wallet. Standard versus standard the FD is a better sports car. You need to love an FC\'s character to stay commited, where as the FD has it\'s looks to compensate.

Come over and have a look at the 12 or so FC going to Rotorstock. I will be floating around the paddock, whilst the FC will be on the Opie oils stand when not on the track.

Cheers,
John

I made the switch from FD to TII cabs.  very surprised by the performance and gets to 90+ MPH very smoothly and quickly.  The fuel consumption is better....much better and somehow i feel more at ease in knowing that the car will last longer, probably wont throw a wobbley and is defo cheaper to insure.  parts are cheaper even if they are the same ones that grace the FD!!!!  overall I do miss the beauty of the FD but I know I have the same pedigree and fun factor in the FC.  try doing 80mph with the roof down, hear those exhausts and boy does it spring a smile like a cheshire cat !!!  Also the FC I think is a rare car these days and is worth the effort in hanging on to a good one.
