Title: NSU Wankel Spyder
Post by: noyzboy on August 07, 2007, 10:42:05 PM
I saw this recently. It\'s a new one on me.It is undergoing as long rebuild.  Single rotor engine in the back. Apparently the motors can still be rebuilt in Germany, but you will miss several show seasons while it\'s away.

Apparently only 11 exist  in UK but more alive on the continent.

Does anyone have any more info on these.

They were the first production car with a rotary engine. Supposedly a pretty decent car but NSU used the buyers as beta testers (some would say alpha testers), thus cementing the fabulous reputation that rotary engines have to this day.

They are very rare even in Germany as they\'re rather good at rusting and also went through a phase when they were about as popular as Osama is in Washington. I\'d say they fall into the category of "serious collectors only" but it was good to see this one up close at RoTechniks.
