Title: Fibreglass body kit
Post by: imebgo on August 07, 2007, 09:09:10 AM
I bought some body kit from the states, not the most expensive I must admit and I was not expecting the fit to be perfect.

This kit however is nothing like I was expecting, its literally inches out in places, and its not plyable enough even through heat application to get it any where near close.

The parts where it joins the wings, the profile is so different and that when trying to force it and bolt it into place it just warps my wings.

I mean If I bolt it up to the top inner most bolt in the wing, the part of the body kit that should bolt up underneath the wing is out by over an inch!

And, if I bolt up part of it into place on the wings it drags the front under my bonnet and doesnt leave enough kit to hang it in the original holes near the bonnet release!

Is this really an acceptable standard of kit! ?  I mean a pro might be able to fit it, and im not an idiot but I cant see how this would ever fit!

Im afraid most kits require a degree of professional fitment fella.  Especially the cheaper ones imported from the states etc via eBay and other such places.  Looks like its gonna cost a few £££s to cut and fit.

Hopefully you can find a reliable company to sort it:)

Yep, this is the problem with some copies. If you want good quality copies I\'d recommend shineautoproject in the US the fit is awesome :)

I\'ll second Shine Auto, while not 100% my bumper is pretty spot on and for a copy I\'d recommend them. Find them on rx7club.com

Looks like I will need a shop to do the job for me (if I stick with this bumper!)

I\'ve had a look around ebay and I found this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mazda-RX7-RX-7-FD3S-Ings-N-Spec-3-piece-body-kit_W0QQitemZ110055029707QQihZ001QQcategoryZ72207QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mazda-RX7-RX-7-FD3S-Ings-N-Spec-3-piece-body-kit_W0QQitemZ110055029707QQihZ001QQcategoryZ72207QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem)  which is Authentic INGS N Spec, im guessing the fit should be slightly better! :)  And I think the INGS N Spec is a really nice looking kit!

Ill check out shineautoproject and see what they have on offer.

Cheers,

James

We do the INGS kit if your interested. On the link there there is no costs for shipping or "duty costs". Also just to let you know that INGS them selves say it takes a minium of 2 weeks to turn the kits around as they are made to order and then approx 5 weeks by sea, so unless using air fright, which on a kit is another £500-£800 there is no way you\'d see it with in 28 days. So just be carful.

If your intrestes in the INGS kit then we do it for £1,445 inc vat, thats fornt and rear bumpers and skirts. When shipped its fully insured. The fitment on the INGS kits is fanastic so it wouldn\'t be a little better it would be a whole lot better.

All the best
James

Thanks for letting me know,

Your on the list for consideration, your all in price is very tempting ;)  They quoted me £400 for delivery but I may get stung at customs.

Im also considering Shineautoproject becuase of their burnout kit which looks pretty sweet ;)

Thanks,

James

Just to clarify your price is including delivery and VAT?  Because the prices work out different in your forum?
