Title: What car next
Post by: J4P RX on February 03, 2004, 09:14:47 AM
Seeing as I have too much time on my hands, I have been thinking a lot about my car future.

Ideally I think id get an NSX or an Exige.  Interestingly, from online quotes last night both of these were cheaper to insure than the FD but all three on the high side of 4.5k...

So unfortunatly due to my insurance circumstances im likely to end up with some nasty E30 BMW that I hate.  Ironically, by not insuring me on something decent Id take care with they have a much bigger risk as with a cheap car I can afford to crash, im likely to drive it like a loon.  I dont think telling them thats a good persuasion though :p

Awaiting backlash from FD for life people!

Oi, u, OUT!!

Elise for a practical every day car for me I think (!economy-wise!). Stupidly messed about RX7 and may be another Rotor or two for play time :)

May be a wagon if a sprog should come along one day!

PMSL!  Nice point with the camper, I could sleep there too to save the drive home.  Wonder what it would go like in the drift comps.

Nice NSX Fad, but I was being semi realistic (if only it wasnt for insurance) and could only afford an older one.  I was looking at the NSX\'s in Japan and they are still lots of money there too.

a rally slag would be a good car to run along side an RX7  for B road bashing.

The Supercharged 350z looks good in evo this month.

Though unfortunately for me my next car is more likely to be a mk2 golf or 200sx if i\'m lucky

I got in to the driver\'s seat of a NSX the oterh day, aside from iut being easier to get in to, the first thing I noticed was how the pedal layout was obviously designed by a driver - only other car I\'ve been in with such good pedal positioning was a lotus 340R.

I have had many cars and driven many more.

I always thought I needed 4 cars.
AND
For some reason I love the shape of mazda cars from the 90\'s

One MAD FD Rx7 for the track
One Nice FD Rx7 with just a few mods for everyday driving.
One Mx5 for weekend spurts when the sun is out. Turbo charged of course.
One 929 / Sentia for cruising VIP 4 door style with friends

I really like the rounded shape of these cars.

Those ferraris and stuff are nice but I still like my FD.
If I can finish it. It will be all I really want.
To spend the same amount on an NSX ferrari or something doesnt give me everything I need.

I have been looking at buying a trailer and something to pull it, as I spend more time towing the bloody things than driving, Been looking at the Dudge Ram\'s 8 ltr V10 viper engined, 500 bhp. 0-60 5 secs.

Gary, what you want is a car transporter, you could make most of the cost back by taking FDs over to the European trips for them :D

If I have to get rid of the FD it will be for something very cheap to buy and run ie 1.3 106 Rallye or a Puma

Funnily enough, I was thinking the other day about the money to be made at Rotorstock and TOTB by taking a transporter up there to carry the blown up rotaries home!

I know, I shouldn\'t think like that, sorry!

Oh, to keep on subject...

The only car I would consider replacing my FD with - got to be the Porsche GT3 - sorry, throw stones at me if you like ;)

Regards

Max

My next car of choice would either be a GTR skyline or an NSX
but the problem with NSX\'s is for a H reg your looking at around 20K!
still happy with mine for a bit though!

TBH most the cars peopel are mentioning are of a simialr performance spec.

I\'m a FR man, though a 911 would be one way for me to go.  I like the idea of a noble, but they are just track cars (not even really space to carry a helmet) and I\'ve seen too many with faults (though Noble does send mechanics to various track events for free).

I would of said a Noble, but I was being realistic as the question I posed wasnt what is you ideal next car if money etc was no option.

If I ever can get a Noble, its not in the forseeable future I dont think (and Id probably get a Mk1 GT3 instead - Nobles are pretty expensive now).

Ohh yes, modern Esprits are nice.  Quite possibly more expensive than an FD too :D

Someone at my work has a Sport 350 which is lovely, except he wont drive it in this weather.  It does sound a bit crap though, but I could live with it.  I keep meaning to take the piss that the tail lights are from a Toyota Corolla, but keep forgetting :p

Must try and get a ride before I leave here.

No possibly.  It tries to beat the TVR at it\'s own game - not speed and handling, but how often it sees the garage
