Title: radiator
Post by: porkifer on August 05, 2007, 08:31:42 AM
after thinking about my problems i have come to the conclusion it must be the radiator blocked up , do these suffer from this ? my last skyline did so i got the rad recored , is it possible with the rex ? i would be tempted with an alloy one but at the moment they are too dear  .
also where is the thermastat ? it may be sticky so a new one wont break the bank , is it ok to flush the system with a hose ?
thanks , chris

Mazda in general has had problems a slight problem with blocked radiators on older cars, not heard of it with FD\'s but its a problem with some MX5\'s, so i guess yes is the answer to your 1st question.
The coolent cap that is attached to the engine is where the thermostat resides and Yes you can flush the system with a hose and tap water but unless you do some research i wouldnt advise a coolent flush addative.
Dont bother recoring your stock radiator as there are quite a few people on here who have 2nd hand stock radiators that they would let go very cheap as they have upgraded to an alloy one.
I for one have a alost new stock radiator for £50 deliverd, it was on my car for approx 500 miles.
But that said id advise you spend your money better and get an alloy radiator.
