Title: error code 43 -wastegate controll solenoid valve help
Post by: RobMatthews on August 04, 2007, 07:58:05 PM
Ok after months of meaning to do this (cars not been driven in the meantime) i\'ve finally checked an ecu fault code and its come back with code 43 which is meant to be solenoid valve for the wastegate control the car is completely modded in the engine compartment all work done in japan before i got it,  I know this is a veage question but any ideas at what or where i would be looking at for?
ps The car drives absolute fine

I cant see any point in listing all the mods as i have got the fault code just i dont know what im supposed to be looking at? its running a medium single tub with all supporting mods and a hks f con  piggy back ecu. any help and advice much appreciated as im all alone down here in cornwall!  cheers rob

Hi Rob

Take a look at the colour coded vacuum rats nest diagram, and have a look through this thread here:

Should get you started. Hopefully it\'s just a faulty solenoid..

Good luck!

the solenoid in question is an easy one to check or replace first remove the strut brace if you have one, then remove/move the little black box on top of the engine it is held in place with 2 x 10mm bolts then the solenoid is visible (green with hoses attached) as it is attached to the plenum so luckily you dont need to remove the plenum. It is on the left hand side and it is actually attached to another solenoid as they come as a pair.

check the hoses that go to the them both and check the wiring that goes to them and that the connector is attached. to test the solenoid itself you will need to remove it via 2 x 10mm bolts and then test it with a mityvac or similar vacuum tester.

(as you can see i have had alot of boosting issues :rollin but ive fixed 5 cars now!)

if you need the two solenoids i have a pair that are tested.
