Linking on from another thread....
Was wanting to have an idea what type my RD is.
Chassis number is FD3S 200-432 - done some google searches but cant find anything.
Its hard to tell from whats on it as its had so much modification...
Had old style suede fabric drivers seat but new fabric passenger.
Rear dump bins rather than back seats
2 oil coolers
someopne mentioned looking at a drivers side sticker. I looked and all it says are tyre sizes!
any ideas?

Its a sticky in the hints and tips section.
Usaly having no sunroof is a good pointer to being an R then you can narow it down by the year and things like auto or manual?
there should be 2 stickers inside the drivers door one with tyre sizes and another with the cars data on it.i think if its been modified alot its gonna be hard to tell which model you have :( what year is it ill look in my rx7 book see what was around then
only one sticker!!! - the tyres size one
declared maufactured in 1993
engine number NK (if that helps)
Its a 2 seater (rear dump bins)
has 2 oil coolers. everything else has been changed/ altered
if it doesnt have a sunroof then i think its an RZ - the most out on out sports car rx7 made - hard suspension, good diff - good brakes - Lol good car!!!
cheers for thats. no - there is no sunroof.
Rz\'s are easy to spot, Carbon recaro seats,Foot rest in the pasenger foor well, knee pad on the Drivers door card and the Big RZ sticker on the 1/4 :)

No sunroof normaly means an R of one type or another, The fact it has bins in leans towards being an R2 but from what i was told they where from 94 on?
On a Stock car you can tell the diffrence between a R1 and R2 very easly (R1 has a red badge on the back and the r2 has a Silver one, R2\'s usaly have carbon look cloth seats in, R1 has a slightly diffrent dash)
has a silver badge!
the passenger seat was carbon look - but the drivers seat was fake suede.(could have had a drivers seat replaced with a bucket) obviously both have now been replaced lol.
there is a knee pad in the drivers side.
could well be an rz. the carbon/kevlar seats are rare and sought after so were often removed and sold. The knee pad should be on the drivers door. Mine had a momo steering wheel as standard but on a 95 plate. Should have Bilstein suspension too.
possibly is then. suspension seems to have been replacd as has tien adjustables all round. It has a momo steering wheel but prob aftermarket.
suprised there isnt a website where you can put in the chassis number and get the spec etc
Not sure why everyone seems to care so much what type a car is anyway, Mazda didn\'t make a bad RX7, they are all awesome, so who cares if it\'s an \'R\' instead of an \'R2\' ?!
I have no idea what type either of mine were, nor do I care, they were both fappin\' amazing! :)
Front discs are also larger, 320-330 mm on a rz. The door stickers usually give the game away, so if it is an rz I\'m surprised it\'s been removed as would boost the value. Any clue on the v5?
Think its probably a Type R2.
Does it have a rear wash wipe? Also does it have a rear spoiler, and does it look stock?
getting really confusing. No rear wiper and no washer jet. spoiler has been replaced ages ago.
In reply to dandan - its just nice to know..... i was interested thats all. plus i know virtually nothing about the history of the car. wanted to find out
Type R2\'s have no rear wash wipe (I think Type R1s do?) or rear spoiler (think the only factory RX7 not to have a spoiler).
Mine was made in the same year as yours and sounds very similar, and I reckon its a Type R2
R2 introduced late 93 and had rear bins. RZ has rear wash wipe. This is like a detective story!
Most probably a r2 then.
Hi Jamie, I understood it was the type R from what Keiron (the owner before me) told me
Cheers
