Been running Eagle F1\'s all round on my FD (235 17\'s front / 255 17\'s rear) for the past couple of years and the handling has been superb, could chuck into a corner at any speed and felt secure, Just swapped for Toyo\'s on the rear but advised by the tyre guy to stick with the original F1\'s on the front as there is still a few mill of tread left. Car now feels very lively on the corners, threatening to oversteer violently at speed I\'m tiptoeing round corners for fear of ending up tail first in a ditch. Is this due to running different make front to back or worn front / new rear? Anybody had a similar experience? My main dilemma now is whether to scrap the new Toyo\'s altogether and put F1\'s all round again or put new Toyo\'s on the front and hope it sorts the car out. I only put the Toyo\'s on because couldn\'t get hold of F1\'s quickly enough. Advice needed!!!!!!!
Not really an answer but I had Toyos on my old car and they didn\'t feel anywhere near as grippy as the eagle F1s I had on previously.
...But interesting nonetheless....
I wonder if a good idea would be to swap round the front and the back and see what happens then ! ?
Also how many miles on the Toyo\'s? New tires are always a bit slippery until they\'ve had a bit of wear in them...
...But mismatched tyres wouldn\'t help much at all!
Don\'t make any tyre judgemnt until you\'ve got around 100 miles or so on the tyres- they could easily taek that long to wear off the releasing agent, and to bed in. New tyres often feel worse than the old ones for a few journeys. Give them a few miles and you should start to feel them come in.
i had the same with my new tyres (contact sports) and after being tail happy for aday or so when it was wet i lit the rear wheels nice big set of back lines :burnout and it sorted it out good as, but the toyos do slip a bit till they warm up and they can take a mile or 2 depending on the weather
Thanks for all the comments so far. Got hold of each rear wheel earlier and gave a good heave and found I can rock them slightly, giving a clunking sound, so wondering if wheel bearings are OK. Not sure how much play, if any, there should be? Had no problems before new tyres were fitted though......Done about 450 (mainly motorway) miles (in 5 days) on the new tyres. Defo a bit puzzled by this one.
Are they actually tightened up?
New tyre? Use wood shaving file to rough it up and no need to travel hundreds mile to break in!.

Strange as it may seem, the wheel nut spanner I have in the car doesn\'t actually fit the wheel nuts! so I was unable to check properly (I got a ring spanner on them and couldn\'t budge them though). Am getting the guy who fitted them back to check it all over for me before I go any further.

Damn, and I wasted 450 miles worth of fuel driving to Cumbria and back just to break my tyres in.:D
