Title: Question to those with 850 primary and secondaries
Post by: gmogle on July 29, 2007, 09:50:49 AM
Hi Guys,

I have my car running with 850s all round, HKS RS filters, HKS downpipe, silenced decat, aftermarket exhaust, apexi ecu, boost controller etc with the boost turned up to 0.9 bar. It made 326 bhp on the rolling road but was lean at top end.

Basically the car needs finishing mapping (after I had some issues with the second turbo it was mapped as best as possible) but my question is this.

Will I need an uprated fuel pump and FPR ?

What I dont want to do is drive to get it mapped only to be told that I need the above. Narfalk is a long way away from any of the tuners so if I need it I\'d rather get it before.

If I do need it then what is best to get and from where ?

I run uprated fuel pump and FPR.  Fully mapped and highest duty I see is under 80%.  I\'m running stock fuel pressure so I suppose that could be a little higher?

I was advised that I would require uprated fuel pump and fpr.

Bosche 044 is a good choice.  You may also require a swirl pot but isn\'t essential.

I have Apexi gtr fuel pump, but this very pricey.

Stock turbos? A decent regulator should be more than enough with 4 x 850s. A little more base pressure if required. Re-wire the stock pump and ensure its getting the power it wants, you shouldnt need another pump I dont think.

A related question,  I got a set of SARD 800cc injectors for primary\'s SARD apparently don\'t make 850\'s.. I am sure they will be enough but how do you set them up.. Or do I need to sell them and get something else?  I was told they should work fine but I don\'t know.

I am running a SARD 280l/h pump aswell..

Cheers /Daniel

Yeah 20b boy, it is stock turbos.

Whats the \'rewire the stock pump\' mod ? Any pics or links please ?

Cheers for the replies, i am trying to make the car as safe as possible so if it is best to replace it then I will. But will wait for the rewiring mod instructions first.

I don\'t really think you have to rewire anything..  I know alot of people here says so.. But I have never seen it in any Japanese mag, or heard anyone here doing it..  Not that it\'s bad.. But you don\'t have to I believe..  I won\'t do it with my car.. If I don\'t notice anything strange happening with fueling.. But I havn\'t so far..

You need to do the re wire mod to beef up the supply under WOT. You need a 255 LPH pump and can use the stock FPR. A walbro will do if all else fails. After you change the pump and alter the wiring you need to have a full re map. IT will be a lot richer.

This must be the most conflicting thread ever, in the same thread the
advice varies from re-wire the fuel pump-no need to rewire the fuel pump?
Fit a FPR., to no need to fit an FPR?
Change the fuel pump-don\'t change the fuel pump?
How about the injectors some say they drop in some say get the fuel rail
milled out?
I think to be on the safe side I\'m going to do all the mods before remap?:Hammer

Yeah I am beginning to think getting one is a good idea.

So for fuel pumps which would you recommend ?

Apexi R33 gtr one ?
Supra TT one ?
Bosch 044 ?
Walbro ?

After something that is easy to drop in rather than work getting it to fit.

Also is there a guide for rewiring the pump ?

hi
gmogle

i did the rewire mod on my previous rex and managed to stop it detonating basically run a nice thick cable from positive side of batt something like the thick red positive amplifier cables through car like under carpet etc and stop under the plastic trim on left of boot where tools go etc then you will need a 12v relay basically remove the original 12v feed to pump and use this to power the relay and connect the thick red cable to other side of relay then the relay will switch on when car starting or running useing the power straight from batt simple really....
i had a skyline pump on mine although i think the walbro will be just as good as any i think as loon as you get the power there..

Sard do a good 280l/h fuel pump that\'s a direct replacement of the standard one in tank.  They also sell a direct feed kit so you can wire the fuel pump to take power direct from the battery.  Both good pieces of kit and I use both on my car.

Hi Mate,

I have a Fse Fuel pressure regulator up for sale mate. I fitted it and drove to Pips for a re-map, I thought I had 850cc primary injectors but I did not so Pip could not do much with it.

So it is basically brand new as it was removed by Pip prior to the map.

Pm me if you are interested mate.

in my mates old evo in the boot was a tall tank that was fed by the oe fuel pump in the tank, connected to this was a (must of been off a fire engine) large fuel pump which ran to the front, where his new one which is more powerfull just has a fuel pump under the bonnet
