have fitted a blitz sus induction kit to my 99 rex(stock twin turbos).it is extremely noisy at low revs as though the air pump is pulling too much air through the twin cone filters the only way to describe it is it makes a baarrrppp every time you deaccelerate or accelerate gently at low revs.if i put the original air box back in this dosent happen.-any ideas??????????:Hammer
something has a hole in and is only opening up when you strech it to fit the other filters or not done up correctly mate, the filers dont make silly noises they should sound great.
Could be the air pump mooing! have you a pic of your air filter instalation? it\'s quite common for this noise with aftermarket filters, may be a hose off the air pump, you could check if the noise dissapears when you disconnect the plug (two wires ) to the air pump magnetic clutch feed, rev it before and after, that way you will know if it\'s the air pump or the filters,
Bob
ok i removed the two wire plug and the noise has gone have included picture
i presume the air pump is pulling through too much air then?
any ideas on how i stop it making this bloody annoying noise-i take it i cant leave the air pump disconnected???????:xconfused
Do you have a cat (the exhaust cat...not the feline variety lol) ?
If you have a decat pipe then you wont need it connected, if you do then you will.
yeah i do i have only replaced from cat back!!
Disconnecting the air pump as you did suggests there is nothing wrong with the air filters, and from your pic\'s everything looks connected as it should, my car runs quite happy without the air pump plugged in, but it is there for a reason! i changed from similar filters to yours to an enclosed type, similar to standard in a way because the mooing noise was doing my head in
yeah doing my head in as well there must be a way round i suppose, somebody must know something!!!:Thumbs-up what was it you put into yours i might have to do the same if no-one comes up with a solution
You will need to make a restrictor plug for one of the pipes - I would have thought it would have come with the filters as I had one with my apexi filters. The restrictor should be placed in one of the pipes to restrict the flow and also as it happens, the infamous \'moo\' noise as a few people describe it as. My apexi instructions told me to put it in a different pipe to what a tuner told me - so if anyone know\'s this they can point you in the right direction.
There are a couple of options for the restrictor but I think if you make a bung with a 6mm hole drilled through it and fit this into the correct pipe. Im sorry but I dont know for sure which pipe it is but hopefully this will put you into the right direction :)
ok cheers for your help i will give it a go somehow hopefully curing my car of mad cow disease!!:Laugh
Just found it for you bud - 9th post by D king

bung the air pump pipe, 13mm hole :cheers
excellent your a star!!cheers for looking and making the effort much appreciated will be able to cruise without my car sounding like its farting all the time
:cheers
lol, your most welcome :Thumbs-up
ok i found the restrictor andrew sent a couple of years ago to me and put it into the pipe of the air pump but made no difference so i tried it in the centre pipe off the right hand filter that i think goes under the manifold somewhere and this has solved it hopefully this will make no difference to the running of the car/emissions:Nono!

Hello i was wondering if this help with the mooing soubd
i have recently changed mine and its driving me crazy
did this cause any problems down the line?
yes it sorted it and no more moooing lol
thanks for that
would mind explaining how you went about fitting it in ???
did u not hear the clutch of the air pump through the bung ??
did not mess with cars performance at all??

removed the small diameter pipe on the right cone and pushed the bung up the pipe and reconnected it.
you can still hear the clutch working when bonnet open but no noise when driving.
has since been through an mot and passed on the emissions so was fine and no difference at all with performance.
nice , may i ask what you used for the bung ??
because i have tried many different things but are all a lil big and i tried to cut something round and put it in there but i bent it putting it in ??
and is 13mm correct i thought that size hole would still make a noise
also did u place it near the engine side of the hose or airbox side??
lol... i appriciate any help you can give me

mine was made of alluminium approx 15mm in depth with three 2mm holes drilled in it fitted it in on the airbox side.i know someone on here cut the top off of a broom handle and drilled holes in it allternatively you could measure the internal diameter of the pipe and get an engineering firm to make u one.
