Title: heat sensor
Post by: jet on July 25, 2007, 07:43:18 PM
Hi folks, just wondering if anyone can help. I have just recently purchased an fd, and as I am looking for more power I have purchased a decat pipe along with some other bits, just the usual stuff. An apexi intake kit, a larger intercooler and an fc commander. My main question is, having removed the main cat there is a sensor going into it which I believe is a heat sensor? Can anyone tell me what to do with it? I have heard that you just tuck it up into the car out of the way, but surely its there for some reason and will the ecu read that something is amiss. any help on this topic would be much appreciated, as I cant seem to find anything to answer this topic. Cheers.

All you need to do is this:

Leave it pluged in to the loom, unbolt your heatshield that sits above the cat, pop the sensor behind that & refit your shield..... job done (you might have to do some minor remodeling of the heat shield using a hammer though ;) )

The sensor is only a temp prob for the cat, basicaly it detects if there is a blokage in the exhaulst.... which results in a build up in heat..... then the light comes on!! so if you dont have a cat, there is nothing to get blocked, so no reason to monitor for heat!!!
