you need something to lift your engine out or support it. garage tools required basically not just on your back job basically.

subframe must come down or engine out.

The engine sits on the subframe, so lowering the subframe is not an option. You can lift the engine with a jack or hoist and remove the mounts without actually taking the engine out. It\'s gonna be a bit tight and you should also have the front of the car high up on ramps or axle stands so you can get underneath and remove the mounts. Im not sure if you have to remove the downpipe to cat bolts, probably best to tbh

Thanks guys, this could be a good time to fit a DP at the same time then?

Lol a fun job! You don\'t need to remove the DP, just hoist the engine up enough to unbolt the mounts as above. If you have the tools it can be done in an hour.

Done mine yesterday and took me 1 hour and most of the time was jacking the car up...then just take 2 14mm bolts off from each mount and jack the engine from gearbox.  It was easier then i thought, just make sure the car is on stands and use a flat piece of wood under the gear box and lift.  No need to take the down pipe off just take the strut bar and intercooler pipes off....easy:cheers
