Title: Possible problem...
Post by: croig on July 22, 2007, 02:10:47 PM
Hi there peeps,

Had my fd about 6 months now, and no problems so far... untill a couple of days ago.
Im not too sure if its just me but i have noticed shes being quite sluggish compared to normal, not got the same umph if you know what i mean. I have also noticed that when the 1st turbo begins to spool that it is not as quiet as normal.  Not that it is making a grating noise or anything like that, just different...
Is anything like this unheard of (or me being a tool:Hammer ?)

Any help or advice greatly appriciated

Also she smells really hot after a normal drive (not given any beans) and the oil pressure gauge reads zero at idle, but goes up under acceleration. Is this normal?

Beginning to sound like an old woman now...

I dont want to teach you to suck eggs but have you checked the collant level propoerly, if you read my Water Useage thread you\'ll know why.

Could also be your cat breaking up inside!! this will block your exhaust, creating alot of back pressure, resulting in a performance drop..... this will also affect your blowers as they are not being spunn up at the normal speeds!!!

Good call, this happened to mine. The performance dropped over about a 3month period then I was handed a handfull of cat by my stepbro.

I had a de-cat and it was completly different car.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Oil level is fine, havent yet checked coolant so will do tomorrow.
It is a standard oil pressure gauge so i will check connections when i get a moment. Will also check cat.

Im still learning a lot about the rex so thanks for not flaming me!!

Thanks DC, where abouts in corby? Presume he has a rex or knows about them? Would be a mega help to know about him rather than having to drive like a 100 miles to get to a specialist just for something that might be nothing! :)
