Title: Who needs a undertray for there FD???
Post by: chrisJDM on July 19, 2007, 12:23:28 AM
anyone interested in one of these?? universal fitment and a must for all FDs if you dont currently have one, can help reduce water temps especially if you have a front mounted intercooler.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8064815015&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

I have enquired with shine in the US about these and for one it is quite expensive for shipping but costs the same price for shipping for upto 15 undertrays.

So if you are interested let me know, if i can get enough interested can prob get the undertrays including shipping for about $150

I\'ve just taken mine off the car to sort out the spliter, and believe it was supplied by R-magic.  Its made of very thick fiberglass and the fitting is soooo good.  I may get some copies made up while its off then so will be alot cheaper then buying from US...  :Hammer :Thumbsup!

I also got a metal fabrication guy behind me shop who can do these in ally...i will be getting quotes for both in FG or Ally next week.  Had a good look at mine and it is moulded where it sits or bolt on to subframe just before the oil sump so fiberglass may be good and cheap option and should be round £75.  This is my own estimate but will confirm next week with pics....oh and if mods do allow then we may have a group buy and save everyone few pennys...:2Rolleyes

I don\'t want any more fibreglass on the front of my car :) I\'ve got a a crack in my bumper where I caught my tool box going into the garage. If it was polyeurathane it probably wouldn\'t have damaged it :(

Here is a picture of the R-magic under tray that was on my car.  Its moulded round the anti roll bar.  You will have to put holes in front of the tray according to your bumprer and may have to cut only slightly to fit properly.  The back of the tray bolts under the subframe where the standard tray does + this one has extra metal plate in the middle so that it sits nice and flush with subframe.

The tray is at the bodyshop now and i will wait from you guys to see who would like one.  The more we have the better cheaper price we will get.:Thumbs-up

are they going to mold in fibreglass or ally
Title: Who needs a undertray for there FD???

It will have to be done in thick fibreglass as its easier to mold + aly will weight more and will need to be coated in some sort of sealent to protect from water and rust etc.

The bottom of these will be coated in matt black paint.

I had a fiberglass one made up for my front at about 5mm in thickness, its taken tons of abuse without cracking. The only thing I\'ve found is that because I had the lip sprayed it tends to have the paint chipped off!

£75 would be a bargain as mine cost me £120! Although it does fit mine perfectly being a wide beastie!

The other benefit is it re enforces the front bumper providing support to the underside, aswell as making the car smoother underneath - as a big hole behind the front bumper will cause drag.

Well, I\'ve just got back from the body shop with the prices and 75quid each for 10 or more trays + 15quid delivery.

If we go for up to 5 then it will be 95 + delivery....still very good price imo as if you were to buy from the states then you will have to add shipping + duty and VAT once here and may not even turn up in one piece:eek:

Just got a quote for ally ones in 3mm thicknes as that will be solid.  The price of these is a bit on high side and its about 225quid + delivery.  I thought its very steep but then he explained as there is lots of cutting to put it into right shape hence more labour charge.  I could\'ve cut it myself but dont have the sharp cutting equipments and trust me its very hard without them for 3mm thickness.  So both options are available at a cost:cheers
