Title: Getting a new steering wheel?
Post by: jsrx7 on July 17, 2007, 07:31:35 PM
Hi

Has anyone got any advice on buying and fitting a new steering wheel for my FD? whats involved?

At the moment the car has an aftermarket momo steering wheel on, but its looking a bit warn so I was thinking about getting a new one. If I already have this momo boss on, does it mean I can easily attach another aftermarket wheel? Or will I only be able to attach another momo wheel to this boss?

thanks for any help.

I bought a new Momo and fitted it to the old Momo boss that was already in the car. Best to take your car to Halfrauds or performance car parts specialist and do some test fitting mate.Only way to be sure.:)

when i got my car had the momo D shaped wheel - hated it plus always squeaked changed for a sparco wheel plus boss.bugger to get dead centre the steering wheel with tyres straight, umpteen goes that i thought were right only to go for a run to find steering wheel out of line slightly when tyres straight.eventualy got garage to do it then found they missed the plasic bit that cancels indicators when fitting the damn thing plus this boss hasnt got the tapered open bit to allow horn wires through so no horn (never use horn) but is mot time this month so needs sorting.should be an easy job !!!!!!!!!

Just had a quick look at halfords and the only one they have is a mountney one for £50. Actually looks ok in the picture but at that im guessing its probly not as good quality as say a momo? Has anyone had one of these steering wheels. Does anyone know if they have more choice in store?

I thought it would have to be aftermarket if it had a momo steering wheel? The way its attached with the boss doesnt look standard though. Isnt actually on straight either.

Can anyone reccomend any good looking wheels? Have seen a lot of ugly over the top ones around!
